I had high expectations while going into this café since everyone around me had said it was very good. I was highly disappointed with their food. It is very overpriced and the matcha is not that good at all. The decorations and atmosphere itself were pretty good compared to the other cafes nearby. I don’t think they really know what they’re doing with the matcha. It was those really cheap grey-ish toned matcha.

I enjoyed my iced latte and the carmelito cheesecake. Service is fast and friendly. The staff are always good with answering any of my questions. They have gelato!!! So many options for breakfast and lunch as well if you need to grab something before school or work! I love their smoked salmon!!

I had a great experience at this café. The service was genuinely awesome—everyone was attentive, quick, and kind. The food was also excellent, fresh, and full of flavor.
However, one thing stood out: while the staff did an amazing job, they didn’t seem very happy with the management environment. I also learned that they may not be receiving the proper tips they’ve earned, which is disappointing considering how hard they work.
Overall, the café offers great food and great service, but it feels like the team behind that quality deserves better support. I hope management takes steps to improve the work atmosphere and ensure the staff is properly compensated, because they truly make the place worth visiting.

A very cute chic cafe and dessert bar. The environment and design are quaint and provoke nostalgia. The food is very delicious and there is a great assortment of sweets for every taste. Employees are friendly and professional and quick to help. Would definitely come back.

I used to go to Carmelita Café often with my grandson. The atmosphere there is very pleasant, but after finding a long white hair in my pastry twice, I simply couldn’t bring myself to go back. Even though my grandson really begged me, I couldn’t buy a single pastry there anymore. The prices are very high, but at the very least, for those prices, they could wear a hairnet while preparing the food. I couldn’t even bring myself to complain — I would just leave the broken pastry on the table and, covering my mouth with my hand, rush out of there.

Unfortunate experience. We trusted Carmelito Café on our wedding day for the group of bridesmaids to have food while they got ready. Long story short - a bridesmaid attended the café at the scheduled time and nothing was ready…they then delivered the food 90 minutes later (bridesmaids had no time to even try the food). Further, the food delivered was not even what we had ordered. We have left e-mails and made multiple calls to speak with management with no response. Please avoid this place if you’re ordering food for any group event.

Carmelito Café is absolutely great! Their black coffee is rich and the lavender matcha is perfectly balanced. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is always friendly but slow. Definitely one of my go-to spots for quality drinks and a relaxing vibe!

We ordered from Carmelitos Barrhaven for an event on September 13, 2025, and were severely disappointed — the food wasn’t ready at the agreed pickup time, staff were rude and falsely claimed we hadn’t paid in full, and the extra cannolis we ordered and paid for were missing. Since then, Carmelitos has ignored our emails and calls. Overall, a frustrating experience — do not order in advance from them.
