Balmoral Bistro & Brewpub

One of the best patios in town. I always stop in here for a lunch or dinner when I am in the area. It's also one of the only places that has decent vegan/veg options. Staff are friendly and professional. Happy repeat customer.

Very disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. We had a reservation for 5pm. Placed our order close to 5:30pm, a half hour later we were told that one of the items was not available. Then we were told there would be a bit of a wait as they were understaffed in the kitchen. We finally get our meals after 6:30pm and two of the meals were not as posted in menu. The kale caesar had no kale. If they had told me prior I would have changed my order. The Owner was rude to us and the only excuse she had was, they were busy this weekend. With 3 small children in the party this was not good. Will not be returning!

EDIT: In reply to owners comment, we arrived at 7 minutes to 5:00. Though we had a reservation for 5:00 p.m. nothing was set up and we had to help the waitress set the table up. The rest of the party showed up at 5:05 p.m. NOT 5:30 p.m. After setting the table up we wanted a drink and that waitress said she would send our waitress. Our waitress came out and went straight to another table that arrived after us.
We had such a long wait time that my daughter actually had time to walk to Metro with 3 kids, pick up some groceries and walk back and still not have the food delivered to the table.
Yes, my salad was taken off the bill however, it was the worst Caesar salad I have had. The lettuce was shredded instead of in nice pieces and was very soggy.
Was I upset that you did nothing about it, yes. But not because I wanted you to lose money; an apology would have been nice or maybe even an offer of a free dessert. Something that most restaurants do.
We are locals and have tried many restaurants in the area over the years and have never had a problem like this. To call us entitled is so far from the truth!
I have owned a retail business and this is not how you treat your customers!

I recommend you stay far away from this place. I have never experienced a more inept owner or server in my life. We waited almost 2 hours for food, the food wasn’t as advertised, and it tasted awful. Neither the owner nor our server had any customer service experience. Instead of owning their shortcomings and offering apologies and compassion, they were snarky and rude. I was shocked. Their attitudes were both combative and dismissive. I was so turned off that we didn’t even finish our food. We went to the Ash Grove Inn right after, and it was significantly better. It was busier but with less wait, kind service, and decent food. Save yourself the time and money that I lost and just go there first.

Edit to add: Cute try from the owner on the response but one click in my name can tell I’m not spam or local. I took a couple days to sit on my review to make sure I was still as upset and disappointed with my experience! As the owner you should be ashamed. Read some of these reviews and instead of calling out people for being spam take some ownership and make some changes! I would also recommend a course on customer service because I spoke with you personally have never been more shocked by a restaurant OWNERS attitude! The wait staff okay fine, you shouldn’t be so rude, but I get it you don’t like your job, but the owner… wow!

Fire poutine

Rented a place for a weeks holiday. Went into town for our last dinner of the week and came upon this restaurant. Food was good. The atmosphere was great for a small town. They were doing a trivia night. The service was fantastic for how busy they were.

Very disappointed with our experience tonight. Had to wait a very long time for our food to be served. Some items were not available from the menu, but instead of telling us right away, we were told a half hour AFTER our orders were placed (and it was an appetizer)! And then to top it all off, when we shared our concerns with the owner, she was quite rude to us and walked away. Nope, not heading back there in the near future.

Amazing experience. Simple food cooked very well!

Excited to be back for wing night Wednesdays! The Cajun, honey garlic and Buffalo wings were terrific, and real meaty wings to satisfy that craving. Spacious shaded patio with great ambiance lighting when the sun goes down, and natural wood country flair inside. There's even an arcade machine with free play!

45min wait for a half full restaurant is unexplainable. Watching everyone come after we ordered and received there food ahead of us didn't help. If your under staffed or have a cook that can't keep up to half a restaurant capacity, then your a poorly run business.

I was there for a group party We waited 2 hours for our food, the service was terrible, food was ok. I was shocked after our long long wait there was no apology and they had the audacity to add 18% gratuity to each individual bill. I will not be going back Very poor service 😳

Had the best beet burger ever! Delicious fries and delicious drink! Can't wait to go again:)

We were in the area, stopped in and we're very pleasantly surprised!
1) The owner served us personally... Even let us play with her puppy, Honey, while we waited
2) All three of us had the Chicken Shnizel Sandwich...loved the slaw and the chicken was perfectly cooked... The fries were delicious.
3) The atmosphere was laid back, comfortable and friendly. Small time vibe and welcome!

Whether you stop while driving through or vacationing nearby... Worth the stop.
