Yum! The pizza was absolutely delicious, and the yurt experience was both fun and unique. We visited on a stormy night, but the yurt kept us warm and cozy, and we were even offered extra blankets. The service was top-notch, and our group had a blast — everyone left satisfied and happy. While I wouldn’t describe the place as accessible, my friend in an electric wheelchair was able to get in and still enjoy the evening.

Went to Olio last evening with a group that had prearranged reservations. To say it was disappointing is an understatement. I would prefer not to give it even 1 star. Although the food was okay, the rest of the experience was the worst of my life. The restaurant is obviously mismanaged, has staff that is either not trained and/or they don’t want to be there, or even slightly enjoy their job. The owner(s) should be embarrassed and ashamed of his or her business based on our experience last evening. And to top it off the absolutely outrageous surcharge of $200 to have dinner reservations in the yurt is beyond ridiculous. From the moment we arrived it was a joke. Nothing was organized, no menus were given. There were a couple floating around a couple of the tables but not enough that 16 of us had a chance to take a look. Service was beyond slow and completely disorganized. The waiter stood in front of us asking what we wanted to order when we hadn’t even been shown a menu. Was never told if there were specials or what the soup of the day was. Getting a glass of water was next to impossible. When food did arrive there were no cutlery given, no napkins, no salt and pepper. Trying to get any of those things even when asked took quite some time. Food was getting cold. Not everyone in our party got food even close to arriving at the same time. It was quite some time before many people got their food. We encouraged those that did get food to not wait as there food would only get colder. There was another incident that took place during the evening that took everyone by surprise and had us all in shock. When it came to getting bills that was another wait, and by this time we were all beyond done with Olio, their staff, service and experience. When one of the guests took the time to speak quietly with the waiter and try to be compassionate and empathetic with the fact that he may not have had proper training or that his employer perhaps had not been prepared for the evening, and the guests that had made reservations when perhaps it was too much for Olio to handle, the waiter said it was a combination of his employer and the fact that the organizer of the event knew the parameters (whatever that means) and didn’t communicate that with the guests. He, the waiter also stated that he didn’t want to be there when asked, which had been apparent all evening. I would suggest that the owner(s) of Olio take more interest in their business, staff and service if they want to continue in business. This was definitely the worst experience ever, and one that I/we never hope to experience again in our lifetime. I’m not sure they at Olio have ever heard of hospitality, service, or how to enhance customer experience at their venue. Definitely will not be back, and will definitely make sure everyone knows of the deficiencies of this establishment.

I went to Bayfield for Christmas in Bayfield and had dinner at Olio 19B Main St N.
Even though the yurt was occupied by a birthday party so we couldn’t sit in it I took couple of pictures as it looked comfy and inviting.
I had chicken Parmesan at it was great. It is a generous portion and you will probably need a doggie bag.
Although it was a cold day we had a gas heater beside our table which made the temperature toasty.
Overall a great experience.

Parking: In front of the restaurant, on the street.

Unfortunately, although the food can be good at times, we won’t be going back here ever again. Half of my group received their food while the other half had to wait. One of our friend groups left as they waited 2 hours for the food. The server, didn’t give us napkins and then when he did bring them, he didn’t bring enough (yes, we had to share napkins). One of our friends, when walking in, bumped into the manager accidentally and was shocked, after only ordering her second beer, was told no. He was told by the manager to pace her! She asked for the manager and when she came, she blamed the server for cutting her off. We had to pay $200 to use the yurt plus 20% tip (I understand this as it was larger than a group of 8 but you would expect VIP service for the $100 charge vs. what we received). Don’t bother asking for water, you won’t get it. Unless you’re willing to ask again and again. Very disappointed.

I recently visited this restaurant, and in my opinion, the experience fell short of expectations. From what it felt like, my party and I waited around 30 minutes before being greeted by the waitress, and it seemed like 20 minutes before we received water. Throughout the night, the service appeared delayed, and I personally found the waitress’s behavior to be less than welcoming.

As for the food, it wasn’t to my taste. In my view, the pizza seemed more like pre-made flatbread with a processed flavor to the cheese, and the pasta, in my opinion, tasted bland and lacked the fresh quality I was expecting for the price. It felt like we waited over an hour and a half for the food to arrive, with dishes coming out at different times.

There was also some confusion with the bill. We were initially under the impression that it had been covered, but were later approached to pay, which made for an awkward situation.

To add to the unfortunate experience, the owner has since contacted me to dispute my review, threatening legal action for defamation and suggesting that my account is not accurate based on their video footage. While I’m only sharing my personal experience and opinions, I hope this review helps others make an informed decision.

Good food, but came with a bit of a wait (I'd guess maybe 45 mins - 1 hour after we ordered), and the restaurant was a third full at most.

The mushroom rigatoni I think was the best dish out of the dishes we tried - the leeks in the sauce really added a nice depth of flavour.

Ordered the espresso martini and it didn't have the classic foam on top (i.e. wasn't shaken properly), but it still tasted ok.

I think other reviews mentioned something about a yurt. We didn't see one, but there was plenty of outdoor seating, which made for a nice dining experience.

I would go back however it felt like the waitress was hustling us out the door at the end of the meal. Also she served me first instead of my bride. I believe strongly that the lady should be served first. The food was excellent except the medium steak was medium/well done.

Parking: Extremely limited accessible parking

Wheelchair accessibility: Totally accessible.

Unfortunately, we waited 2 hours before we had to leave because our food was not served at all. 2 hours!! Went there at 6:15 pm after calling them to see if they would take our party of 8. We were entertaining guests from Europe and Australia. Thanks for nothing Olio. My daughter had to leave to look after her new puppy. The restaurant wasn't even busy. On their way out, other customers told me that they waited 1 hr for their food. 2 hours for us and NOTHING!! You might think they would comp/discount our drinks. NOTHING! The restaurant was supposed to close at 8pm and we still were waiting for food at 8:15pm. Went down the street to the Albion Inn and was eating food within 30 minutes. I never experienced anything like this in my lifetime! Unbelievable! Fool me once, shame on you. You will never fool me again!!
