Chanterelle has recently updated their menu to include a host of tasty vegetarian and vegan options. Taylor was our expert host, knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating..
Highly recommended place for lunches and dinners..

While visiting Bowmanville, we came across Chanterelle Bistro & Catering, a highly rated French fusion bistro, and decided to give it a try—and we’re so glad we did.
We started by sharing a salad, and the staff kindly split it into two plates for us, which was a very thoughtful touch. For mains, we ordered the Slow Roasted Lamb Shank and Beef Bourguignon, and both were excellent. The meat was incredibly tender and fall-apart soft, rich in flavor, and clearly cooked with care. We were genuinely impressed and very satisfied with our meal.
The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxed dinner. It’s always a pleasant surprise to find such a wonderful bistro while traveling.
Overall, Chanterelle Bistro was a fantastic find in Bowmanville, and we would absolutely return if we’re in the area again.

Our group of seniors enjoyed your Sunday brunch last week. We loved the menu selection and everyone enjoyed their choice. Our server was delightful. We look forward to next year’s brunch. It’s a lovely way to celebrate the season. Thank you.

Best high tea ever. What a pleasure. Baylee is a star. Amazing server, very attentive but not hovering. Her timing was impeccable. Every bite was better than the last. We will be back Looking forward to coming back for my brother's birthday diner. Chanterelle is an intimate restaurant so 2 to 6 per table is perfect

AJ was amazing! She was funny, had great service, and checked on us regularly to ensure we had everything we needed. Our food was amazing, but she made the experience.

Six adults, dinner, Sunday Nov 30th to celebrate my 63rd birthday. I requested a quiet area and was provided a great table with no other patrons nearby. The menu has many options for all pallets. The timing between appetizers and main course was perfect keeping the relaxed environment we were looking for. We didn't require dessert, however as a birthday gesture I was provided a dressed up plate with homemade banana ice cream! Absolutely delicious. We will all be going back to Chanderelle's

My boyfriend and I had dinner here last night for the first time. We ABSOLUTELY loved it! I can’t wait to go back! First of all, we did not have a reservation, but they squeezed us in with only a half hour wait. The hostess was very friendly and sat us right away. Jessica was our server. She was very sweet and tentative even on what seemed to be a busy evening! The atmosphere was very nice, cozy, and elegant. Neither of us drink alcohol and it’s hard to find a restaurant that doesn’t have the bar vibe. This place was perfect! Definitely felt classy! We ordered the AAA Striploin and the penne chicken pasta with pesto. It was DELICIOUS! You can tell the meals are fresh and prepared by a very talented chef. lol! For dessert, my boyfriend had the créme brûlée and he loved it! It was a good size portion. I had the butter pecan tart with their in-house-made ice cream. I am still thinking about it! It was sooooooo good! I expected a regular tart. No. It was a homemade, warm, soft, delicious tart. Best one I have ever had. And the ice cream was also very delicious! 10/10 from both of us! We will definitely be back! Thank you for the great experience! :)

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner. The location and ambiance were perfect.
The staff was amazing; our server was still in training, and she was friendly and attentive. Although the manager was assisting, you could see that she was trying to absorb all the information. The white glove service was a level of service unexpected.
We are both gluten free so the extra time and patience helping us make the right meal decision was very appreciated.
The meals were beyond our expectations!
Husband had the lamb shank. It was fall off the bone deliciousness. The portion size was large enough to bring some home!
My meal was the lobster risotto. It was creamy and perfectly al dente. The presentation with the lobster tail was picture perfect!
To top off the evening was dessert. We shared the creme brulee and chocolate mousse cake. Both were just sweet enough to complete our meals.
Thank you for a memorable evening! We can't wait to dine again, and maybe for afternoon tea!

What a great way to celebrate our anniversary having HIGH TEA at Chanterelle Bistro. The atmosphere is so cozy, and the food was amazing. Our favourite local restaurant hands down. We will be back to try the dinner menu ... a few times for sure.

Absolutely amazing beef tenderloin, cooked to perfection. It has a crispy outside and yet it's so tender. The potatoes on the side are also delicious. My friend had the shrimp and scallops and really enjoyed it too. Highly recommend!

I made a reservation a few weeks ago, and my husband called yesterday to confirm since we were celebrating our 1st anniversary today. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated upstairs by the lovely hostess.
For our appetizer, we ordered the mussels. They had a slightly off-putting smell at first, and a few didn’t taste quite right, though we decided to go ahead with them. For our mains, we had the veal tenderloin and lamb shank; both were flavorful and well-prepared. My sangria was also delicious and refreshing.
We ordered the chocolate mousse cake for dessert, hoping for a small acknowledgment of our anniversary. Although the restaurant had our note on file and my husband had called to confirm, our server wasn’t aware. We didn’t mind paying for dessert, but a simple gesture or “happy anniversary” message would have made the evening feel more special. Having worked in restaurants myself, I know it’s the small touches like these that bring guests back.
While our server was efficient and attentive with orders, the service occasionally felt a bit hurried. A brief check-in at the table, rather than conversing while walking by, would have added a more personal touch, especially since my husband wanted to request another drink too.
Overall; we were expecting a little bit more of an upscale experience and it didn’t quite hit the mark for us.

We went on a Sunday night. It was for our 34th wedding anniversary. The service was top notch. The food was delicious. It will be a repeat restaurant.
The rating of 4 stars is due to the wine list by the glass. Given the extensive wine list by the bottle, I would have expected a most robust list by the glass. It was ok but not knock your socks off.
There were a group of 4 seniors next to us. One gentleman's hear aids were being repaired. Unfortunately they were so loud I could not even hear my wife during our meal. My head was pounding from their conversation so I raced thru dessert just to get out. We should have asked to move. It was our first time there. We had no idea just how big the restaurant is. The staff apologized but they had no control over the noise and it wasn't their fault.
Ideally this group should have been in their own room. Or at least in a quiet corner far away from everyone else. There was even a group of 6 people and not a sound was heard from them. Lessons learned. I will be back. The food and service was top notch. Btw, my wife really enjoyed her chardonnay from the limited wine list.

We were cheerfully welcomed by Lila who accommodated us despite there being a lot of customers, and were ably served by AJ as we feasted on Gravlax, rocket salad and lamb shank.
