This is the worst restaurant in Bowmanville, and the worst of its kind in the overall area. It’s dirty, the customer service is poor and the food is godawful. Avoid it like a plague.
I’ve eaten here a couple of times, and was reminded why I hadn’t returned for a decade after trying it the second time. The food was gross, in both looks and texture, and it tasted bad.
They seem to either overcook or undercook food, and don’t use fresh ingredients. Given the state of the restaurant, it’s not surprising. I walk by often, en route to one of the good restaurants nearby.
Great Wok has become a joke amongst my friend group, because we have all been appalled by its food and cleanliness.
It was bad when it opened, and it’s even worse now. Do yourself a favour and don’t eat here.

I always order the same dish, partly out of habit, but mostly because it’s just that good, and somehow, every time I eat it, it tastes even better than the last. The flavours are bold, rich, and perfectly layered, with each ingredient complementing the next in a way that feels carefully thought out. It’s always served piping hot, straight from the kitchen, with steam rising off the plate and that mouthwatering aroma that hits you before you even sit down. The texture, seasoning, and temperature are consistently perfect, like it’s made with love every single time. The portion sizes are incredibly generous, so much so that I can rarely finish the entire plate in one sitting, which means I almost always get to enjoy it a second time later. The leftovers are just as delicious, too, which says a lot about the quality. The staff are friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the food they’re serving. You can feel that care in the atmosphere as well—it’s warm, welcoming, and full of regulars who clearly feel the same way I do. It’s rare to find a place that delivers on taste, quantity, and experience so consistently, and I truly can’t recommend it enough.
