Halibut House Fish & Chips

I've been going there forever! Since I was little, I always get the halibut/haddock fish and chips with tartar sauce. It's my all-time favorite meal! 😋

Never returning to this establishment. Ordered 2 fish and chips with sweet potato fries. The person taking the order asked him to repeat it, and he did stating sweet potato fries. My husband picked up the order and when he got home, there was no tartar sauce and it had regular fries only. He drove back to fix the order where he was told he had to pay 11$ for the 2 sides of sweet potato fries that they messed up on. He paid the 11$ to not have an argument… when he got home and looked at the box of potato fries there was not even a handful of potato fries. When I called the manager the blame was put on a miscommunication originally and then we were told that they weigh the sweet potato fries and it was an appropriate amount of fries… I will add photos but there is not fricken way this was 2 servings of fries… and absolutely not worth 11$.

I’ve been here about four times in the last month, including three times this week. Not to mention some times over the last couple years.

The service is generally really good, the food is above average and it’s always been hot — especially lately. Super hot.

I went for breakfast yesterday and supper tonight. Both were good, and I got lots of food. I got extra chicken fingers.

WORST Fish and Fries ever!! Fries were not fully cooked , fish was greasy and was like eating rubber .First and last time trying this place.

Soybean oil is not at all healthier than lard as stated in your website, nor does it come close to being tastier; it is simply the cheapest oil money can buy. My meal came to $41.26

We have eaten here more than a few times, we love the food and the customer service that we experienced from Karen and Amanda was fantastic.
This restaurant checks off all the boxes, great food, great value and unmatched customer service.

Disappointing would be how I describe the food. Service was good, place was clean and quick. Sadly the fish was soggy, fries were bland and not salted? The tartar was not homemade. I ordered a Greek salad and it was very bare of ingredients. I didn’t mind the coleslaw but nothing to write home about. For the price, we will be going somewhere else.

Quality of food has nosedived last few months. We heard a couple months ago when picking up that there was a new cook. Decided to give it another try...

The fish is soggy and mushy, especially the cod. The colour of the batter is totally different. Either the recipe has changed or type of oil has changed. Is oil temp correct too? Even the mushrooms are soggy. Fish portions are also suffering from shrinkflation. Service is friendly though. This is basically a knock on the food only.

There are too many Fish options in the area. Likely not returning after this experience.
