The Old Station Restaurant

We went there for an early dinner and the hostess greeted us warmly and got us seated right away, in the cutest ally near the library, it had the most beautiful cozy feel to it.
We ordered the French onion soup and Caesar salad as an appetizer and it came out incredibly fast, the soup was rich and hearty, and the salad was well seasoned and it fulfilled our expectations!
We split the Brie burger, although the patty was a bit overcooked the flavors were still as good as a burger can be, the fries were well seasoned which paired perfectly with the burger.
We also split the sirloin which came cooked to perfection (medium rare) and the veggies were cooked amazingly with rich and tasty flavor, it gave us “steakhouse vibes”.
We will definitely come back and recommend to our friends in the area.

My family and I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. When we arrived, there was a sign posted outside that said “please wait to be seated.” We waited outside for about three minutes, but as it was quite chilly and my father needed to use the washroom, I stepped inside. Shortly after, a hostess came to seat us.

When my father returned from the washroom, he noticed an elderly couple waiting outside in the cold. Thinking the sign was intended for patio seating, he kindly suggested to them that they could likely come in. Their response was, “oh no, it’s okay, we are rule followers.” At that point, the hostess came up behind my father and remarked, “unlike you guys,” in a very snide tone. Understandably, this upset him, as the comment was both unprofessional and unnecessary.

A few minutes later, another server came to our table and I asked for clarification: was the waiting sign meant for the patio or for inside dining? She replied, “technically both.” I explained that we had assumed it was only for the patio and mentioned the rude comment made by her colleague to another table. Her response was, “I don’t think it matters, you’re seated now.”

The only positive thing I can say is that the décor inside is quite nice. Unfortunately, the staff’s attitude and lack of professionalism overshadowed this. What could have been a pleasant family meal instead left us with a very negative impression.

Surprised at the high ratings for this place, steak was poorly cooked and for the same price you’d get 10 times better at the Keg. Greek chicken wrap had about 4 small strips of chicken in it and they charge around $25 for it. Not very good in my view, only good thing was the friendly server..

This establishment is my go to when I visit bracebridge. We’re never disappointed the staff is amazing and the food very tasty. Wish we had this restaurant in our town.
