Very fresh meat and plenty of variety for food

Abrisham Halal Meat & Grocery is a wonderful local store! They have fresh halal meat, delicious Afghan food, and a great variety of grocery items that are hard to find in other stores. The staff are always friendly and helpful, making every visit a pleasant experience.
I love shopping here because the food is high quality, the service is excellent, and the store has a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a popular spot in the community, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for good halal meat and authentic Afghan products.

Nice service and excellent afghani food!

When our family relocated to Bradford, we were genuinely delighted to discover that an Afghan meat and grocery store had opened nearby. As proud supporters of local business, we were eager to support this shop from the outset. Over the years, we have not only remained loyal patrons, but have actively recommended the store to friends, neighbours, and the broader community.

Throughout our many visits, we’ve consistently appreciated the warmth and courtesy extended by the back end staff, which made the store feel like a valued part of our neighborhood. Unfortunately, our recent experience has left us both disappointed and disheartened.

We purchased a pan that was marketed as stainless steel, but to our surprise, it discolored and turned black after its very first use. We found out that this pan was actually aluminum. We reached out to the store right away, expecting the matter to be addressed reasonably. We were travelling so we couldn’t come by in person but mentioned we would return it next time we are home. L

Quite frankly, the item cost only $60 - we would have been more than willing to overlook the issue or would have been happy to accept a store credit in lieu of a return. Instead, when we brought the matter to the owner’s attention, he became defensive, dismissing our concerns and insisting he had never had an issue with the product himself.

What was most upsetting, however, was not just the refusal to accept the return, but the way the situation escalated. Rather than speaking with us respectfully, the owner began raising his voice, in front of other customers, causing a scene that left us feeling humiliated and deeply disrespected.

This experience was a stark contrast to the years of goodwill we’ve shared with the store. As long-standing customers who have spent thousands of dollars in support of this small business, we expected a conversation grounded in mutual respect and good faith. Instead, we were met with hostility and a complete lack of accountability.

We share this experience not out of malice, but in the hope that it encourages reflection. Trust and community loyalty are not built solely through good products and friendly service, they are reinforced in how a business responds when things go wrong.

Great convenient Afghan grocery store. Much needed in the north end. Hoping to see a second location in Newmarket.

Extremely disappointing experience. The staff were rude and unhelpful when I asked for assistance. Prices were higher than average, and the quality just didn’t match up. Definitely not coming back.
