A few friends and I were in Cambridge for a day trip from Toronto when we stumbled upon this little gem. From the outside, it had that retro Chinatown look that immediately caught our eyes, so we decided to step in. Once we walked inside, the interior really reminded us of those classic Hong Kong kung fu movies — all the old-school decorations made us feel like we’d stepped into a scene from one of those films. At one point, I even half-expected Jackie Chan to rush in and start fighting off bad guys!
The waiter was super friendly and noticed how curious we were about the décor, so he started sharing the story behind the restaurant. We learned it actually started back in 1951 by the Seto (司徒) family, who originally came from Hong Kong, Macao, or somewhere nearby. Seeing the old photos of George on the walls was really touching — it felt heartwarming to see how the family’s history and traditions have been lovingly passed down through the generations.
Food-wise, everything was really enjoyable. The General Tsao chicken was super spicy 🔥 and got me hooked from the very first bite. If you can handle the heat, definitely give it a try. The beef lo mein was seasoned just right, and the beef was tender and flavorful. George’s special fried rice had that simple, home-style taste — total comfort food. I also liked that nothing was overly salty or full of MSG, so we didn’t feel thirsty afterwards.
One small thing that caught my attention — right across from the washroom, there’s a Terracotta Warrior statue. It actually startled me a bit! For those of us with a Chinese cultural background, it’s interesting to remember that the Terracotta Warriors are part of ancient burial culture.
And as a fun little note, my fortune cookie predicted I’d get more cookies next time, so I’m hoping we get an extra fortune when we come back!
All in all, it was such a lovely experience — great food, friendly service, and a chance to soak in some real history. We’ll definitely remember this spot and hope to come back next time we’re in Cambridge.

George's is an absolute institution in Cambridge. Amazing service, incredible eats, and lovely atmosphere. The place is clean and situated in the perfect little spot downtown, with good parking. Our server, Makenna, took amazing care of us and was friendly and knowledgable!

What has happened to the old George's???
Yesterday I ordered a #10 for 1. I'm sorry to say, it was absolutely the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The chicken dishes were both bland tasting, the rice was horrible. The only thing edible was the egg roll. You used to have the best rice anywhere. Not now. It was pale in colour, no vegetables and no flavour at all. For the amount of money you charge for 2 small chicken containers and an even smaller rice container, save your money, this food is not worth it. 👎🏻👎🏻

Came across this gem of a restaurant in the downtown of Cambridge (Galt). They serve up real authentic Chinese food, just like the restaurants that I went to as a kid in eastern Ontario. Once Upon a Time every small town in Ontario had a Chinese restaurant. George's has been open for over 76 years and is still run by the original owner's family.
I had some take out food earlier this week and the egg rolls were to die for. They're handmade every morning at the restaurant along with their homemade plum sauce. You can taste the difference!
Cant wait to actually sit down and have a meal there!
The oldest resteraunt in cambrige we were told and they are still around for a good reason at first place you may think the menu looks a bit pricy until you see the massive portions come out great food cool vibe
I ordered take out and it took 2mims from home.Vegie fried rice was lack of vegie...Sweet and sour pork was not warm either hot. Pork was close to cold. Soo guy almond was...like KFC. It was okay but won't go back.
