I've been to Pops and Ruby's more times than I can count in the last 10 years, but this was the 1st since new ownership, and we were horriblly turned off. It took us 35 minutes to get a drink, and when we finally got to order, the bar tender was spilling almost all of them and just serving them as is. I felt all the rum ended up on the floor because it certainly wasn't in the drink! She was constantly rolling her eyes and talking about us to a colleague (assuming I couldn't hear her) and serving the people she knew before others. We started ordering pitchers of beer, just knowing how long it was going to take between drinks, but that didn't last either because something was horribly wrong with the taste of it. I've also always run a tab here because we generally close out the place. She wouldn't think of it, so between that and the insane amount of time it took to order, we left much earlier than expected. The karaoke was the only reason we stayed as long as we did. Do better, much better.

If you go for karaoke and run a tab. . be ware that extra items will be put on your bill. They won't give you a detailed receipt hoping you won't notice. I kept track of everything ordered so I would be prepared as to what the bill should be. My bill was almost $20 more than what I ordered. I definitely will not "run a tab" anymore.

the menu I did not see any cocktails maybe two and why is there not often updated info of events happening live bands holiday stuff halloween or n such I had poutine was the best I've had! huge n loaded with melted cheese n gravey! I do not prefer cheese curds this was lots melted cheese n gravey very pleased

Only after I went outside for a smoke and spoke to security, did security go to the kitchen and let them know I still needed a drink. Then I finally got my pop, shortly after my food order. I went home and my food order was completely wrong. Unfortunately it's just not worth the money or the waste of time to go there. The bartenders don't really care or pay attention and the food is nothing like it used to be.

This place is comfortable and inviting with a super mix of ages and cultures. They will go off-menu for drinks which is really appreciated. Kenny is the best Saturday night Kareoke host ever, and his Elvis impersonation is awesome (and his wife Bev is there too - she sews all his outfits). You can also get there by bus, and the Ubers are quick to get you back home. I hope Pops & Ruby's remains a staple in Cambridge for years to come.

They are somewhat slow at serving beer when the restaurant is busy, however the amazing food and comfortable environment more than make up for it. Always a good time.
Update: New ownership scrubbed most of the food from the menu. Now it's just another stinky dive bar. 2/5.
