It would be nice to have some vegan options on the menu. Maybe just a burger or wrap. Otherwise, really nice and professional staff and bartenders. Clean and nice atmosphere.

This used to be my favourite pub in Cambridge. I had been there several times, recommended it to friends, and even celebrated special occasions. But my last visit was completely ruined by the staffâs rudeness.
We were celebrating a birthday, and I was the one who suggested coming to this place. Everything was fine until it was time to pay. Our server demanded an 18% tip and used phrases like âyou have toâ and âyou must,â which felt extremely aggressive. I was absolutely willing to leave a tip, but not after being pressured like that.
I explained that tipping is the customerâs choice and said I was ready to leave 10%, which was around $70 â not a small amount. However, the server insisted that because we had ordered a lot, we âmustâ leave a lot of tip. That made no sense at all. If anything, ordering more only means we brought more profit to the pub â yet somehow we ended up being treated as if we were doing something wrong.
I politely asked her to adjust the tip to 10%. She brought a new bill with 15% instead. I refused to pay it and asked for a manager. Eventually, they gave us a bill with the correct 10%, which I paid.
I will not be returning to this place, and I wonât be recommending it to anyone. The staffâs arrogance is completely unacceptable.
I hope the owner of the pub sees this review and takes appropriate action

This is a local Cambridge pub. The menu is quite traditional fare and the drink menu is mostly beers, however they do offer bar rails and daily drink specials on the black board on the patio. I ordered the roast beef stuffed Yorkie and honestly it was the best I ever had! The meat was cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes were perfectly buttery and the outside crispy. My husband got the bangers and mash which he also thoroughly enjoyed! I rated the restaurant four stars as the building interior is well loved and could use a renovation to receive the last star.

Do not go here for an evening out to have drinks with friends and listen to live music!!! The place is so poorly managed. Whoever owns this place should not be leaving some bouncer with a power trip in charge. Also, if youâre going to leave 2 bouncers in charge, they need to be on the same page. One person canât let you in only to have another bouncer scream and berate you for being there. He is clearly the reason this establishment is losing money due to his treatment of who would be your highest paying customers. Go to the Local 13 up the street for quality food and amazing service and atmosphere. Thatâs what we did!!

I had a very disappointing experience with one of the servers, Rachel. Her attitude and behavior made the visit uncomfortable, and the level of professionalism was far below what I would expect from any restaurant. She was inattentive, dismissive, and gave the impression that she didnât care about the customers at all. On top of that, her overall presentation and lack of cleanliness were off-putting.
When I go out to eat, I expect decent service and at least a welcoming attitudeâneither of which I received from Rachel. This really ruined the experience for me, and I donât think Iâll be returning to The Black Badger ever again!

We try to stop at the Badger when we're in Cambridge and we are never disappointed. We took my mother along for our recent visit and we all had the fish and chips, which was excellent all around. Service is always prompt and friendly, and drinks are reasonably priced and generously portioned - they know what a good pint is and how to pour it. The atmosphere is pure pub and great if you are in for a sporting event, and their patio is a nice little spot to enjoy the warm weather. Well done.
