I've been going to Captain Georges Fish & Chips every time I'm in or passing through Campbellford, ON for over 20 years. The food is Always Awesome. Large Helpings of tasty fish in an excellent, crispy batter. Today I wanted 2 pcs of Cod with Fries. Apparently the cook (owner) thought the pcs of fish were small so he gave me 3 pcs. No argument from me of course. I highly recommend this specific location for Captain Georges Fish & Chips. Whether you live there or are just passing through, it is always well worth the stop.

I would definitely recommend going to Captain George's Fish & Chips in Campbellford! The service is very nice and welcoming. And the food is honestly very good. I've tried many fish and chip places, but none were as good as Captain George's.

Despite having great service, the halibut my wife and I had tonight was terrible, and quite honestly we were shocked they would even serve it. Both our pieces of fish had been cut so thin you could hardly see or taste it. The batter was light in colour probably because if it were deep fried any longer it would be like a taco. I didn’t attempt to eat mine and brought it home. The weight of this piece was 2.3 ounces. Such a disappointment as we always enjoyed the halibut and chips there. Are they trying to cut their costs? Definitely not up to Captain George’s standards. We will be contacting the head office and won’t be returning to this restaurant anytime soon.

My husband ordered take out Halibut. Worse batter he’s ever had in his life. Couldn’t taste any fish. Definitely won’t be back. Very disappointing experience!

We got 2 Fish with fries Halibut
The fish was so thin and barely taste it fries were cold and hard
This Restaurant was a lot better before
I see other people have complained
I will not go back

Ordered Halibut and chips. Halibut was so thin you could put it in an envelope. Also dry and chewy. Chips were overcooked and many bad spots. We have eaten there several times but the quality was horrible this time. Hoping the owner reaches out to me to correct the situation

We ordered halibut a few months ago and it was good. I ordered last night and I got paper thin pieces of halibut. It was hard to even taste the fish. The fries were over cooked and full of bad spots. I won't be going back there.

well, what can i say. we drive quite a way to eat here, but no more. look at the former reviews, showing large portions of fish. we came for the halibut. unfortunately, the last couple visits we recieved paper thin pieces of fish. everything else is fine, and the product is still good, but for the halibut, i'd keep driving. unfortunate, as i would paid more if the economy was the cause.
