Unique Mexican (Texmex?) style restaurant. I've been visiting Cajun Pepper in it's many various locations it has moved to and from for what seems like 20 years now. Looking back across that many years - the Food has always been excellent and the staff hit and miss... mostly a miss. Slow service. Overall - I like it, and my family hates it, so we barely go.

Lived in Chatham-Kent my entire life and, tonight we ordered from Cajun Pepper for the first time ever. Ordered the Enchiladas & Quesadillas. Enchiladas were AMAZING, Quesadillas were AMAZING ! Staff was friendly and, kind. 10/10 Recommend ! Thank you for providing Chatham-Kent with incredible food. Will definitely be back.

We recently revisited the Cajun Pepper since I had fond memories of the restaurant from when I was a kid. And while it pains me to leave a poor review on a local business, I would like to highlight my experience for others considering eating here. For context on my comments, we went on a weekday at supper time.
The general vibe of the restaurant gave an immediate poor impression. The dim light and seating arrangement made the dining room feel claustrophobic. The entryway is lined with polaroids (which faded due to the sun over the years), which, along with the decor in the dining room, just makes everything feel outdated.
On top of that, service was fairly slow. This isn't a major complaint - What I want to mention is that for the hour+ we were here, our party (of 3) were the only ones in the restaurant. Aside from one person picking up a takeout order, the server and us were the only ones present, and everything just felt uncomfortable. It almost felt like they didn't want people eating here.
On to the food: it was ok. The portions were huge, but unfortunately that's the only good thing I have to say about it. The food was just bland. I wouldn't mind paying the amounts they charge if the food was worth it, but for the meals we were served, it was just far too expensive. The cost is an added punch to the gut when I know I could cook the same meals at home and have it taste better, do it faster, and actually be comfortable the whole time.
In conclusion, eating at the Cajun Pepper nowadays feels like a chore. You have to go out of your way to avoid eating at better, cheaper, faster and friendlier restaurants, and I likely will not return until some major renovations are made.

Arrived at the Quality Inn across the street around 7:30 pm; restaurant recommended by hotel staff. Pleasant decor. Menu had a variety of choices, and both of use were extremely happy with the service and speed of serving. We will visit this property again when we revisit CHatham!
