We all had the burger and beer daily special. Before we started to order, our waitress Alexandra asked all of us the type of beer we appreciated. For each of us she had a suggestion which we all appreciated. I personally had the midnight stout which is absolutely wonderful. Our burgers were delicious. The service that Alexandra provided us was outstanding. She is very attentive, knows well the food and beers on the menu and eager to provide excellent service. She is an excellent ambassador for this establishment. Great food, beer and service. A must to visit if you are in Cobden area.
Many microbreweries are bland and samey in my experience but Whitewater is definitely top shelf. Every beer I've had from them has been excellent and the food is great also.
Great spot. Band was unexpected and amazing
We are in town for a visit and stopped in for some local food and drinks and this place did not disappoint. Brooke was our server and she was fantastic along with the live music 10/10
Had a great experience here!
Went with another couple
Grace L was a great waitress very pleasant to talk too and she took good care of us. One of the best I think we ever had actually
The food was awesome, had burger and fries, chicken wings, tacos, alcohol drinks.
Went for dinner for fish and chips with the wife, her fish was a little soggy and not cooked enough. There was a very little amount of fries equal to a small fries from McDonald's in a little metal cup. The waitress was very polite. The food is very expensive for so little and the atmosphere was like a factory eating at sort of picnic tables. I would not recommend this place unless you like expensive beer
Great service
Been here a few times as a tradition coming out of algonquin park. I usually have a burger and fries, which is always excellent. One of the best pub burgers around. That goes for any of the burgers on the menu. They make their own ketchup which is incredible. Recently I decided to try something else on the menu, I ordered the 'Blacked chicken creole bowl'. Better than I expected, it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Spicy, a touch of sweet, flavourful, just delicious. Aside, the pub has good atmosphere, friendly staff, some of my favorite small brewery beers. The small brewpubs are everywhere these day, this one is a must to try. You won't be disappointed.
Like others have recently shared, I’m not sure what’s going on with the service at this restaurant any longer. It feels like wait staff are annoyed you even came. It’s such a disappointment, truly, because we love to support local and it used to be our top choice for dining out. Over the summer of 2024, we have visited at lunch, at dinner multiple times, been seated on the patio and been seated indoors, and no matter what, service from the wait staff is abysmal and bordering on rude. Our last visit had us waiting 15 minutes for a waiter to come to the table, 35 minutes for our beers, and 2 hours for our food. After the first hour of waiting for our meals, the server realized that we didn’t have water. There were no updates during our wait, or explanation for why it was taking so long. When the food did arrive, we heard the waiter talking about our table to other customers, describing that we had a whole “buffet” incredulously (dude, it was seriously just five appetizers!). It led us to believe that the wait staff was already overwhelmed prior to our arrival and can’t handle a perfectly reasonable order. We are understanding of busy dining times and respect that good food takes time, but when your wait staff is swearing towards customers because the plates are “effing” heavy on their wrists, talking about being hungover from the previous night, commenting on how women finished an entire “effing” plate by themselves, or telling you to stop ordering because they believe that our table won’t be able to eat what we ordered (again, 5 appetizers shared between 4 people?), the extension of our understanding now stops. I’ve never been to a restaurant that wants you to stop ordering on what will be a $200 bill + tip. They need to hire more qualified wait staff and increase kitchen staff, and work on customer service training for current staff. I would not recommend you attend with a party over four or during dinner hours. Additionally, the restaurant is very loud indoors, which is not a critique necessarily because it can’t be helped (beautiful building with high ceilings), but I wouldn’t recommend dining indoors if you are easily overstimulated by noise or if you’re looking for a spot for an intimate date. If you’re up for group conversation at your table, you won’t be able to hear anything. I understand that “intimate date night” is not the restaurant’s vibe at all, but we did notice other customers on dates that seemed surprised.
Ok, the beer is good! The food and service not as much. Also, they have a fly problem for a few years new. Could be much better.
Restaurantji Recommends
The name Lakeside is misleading, the lake is nowhere near the place. The patio is quite small, boxed in with only picnic tables so we sat inside with the flies…so many flies, they should provide swatters 🙄. Our server was nice, provided good service. I had the wings, I hadn’t expected them to be battered, my fault, I forgot to ask, they were ok. Also ordered the truffle fries, meh. My husband had the fish and chips and he enjoyed it. Beer was very good. I wouldn’t recommend this place for the food but I would for the beer.
I was hoping a third time would be a charm. But I guess the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing (make a reservation at whitewater) and expecting a different result (poor service, massive wait times) .The sad thing is - their brewing/distilling products are fantastic. The menu "reads" well, and it seems like the ingredients are quality. As you will see from so many other user reviews below; there are major issues with both Service and Wait Times.
We arrived for our 6:30 reservation and were not met by wait staff until 6:45. Having previously known that Whitewater is notoriously slow to get food out, and we had plenty of time to do nothing but look at the menu, we were ready to order when she came to ask for our drink order....so we ordered an Appetizer. Maybe i'm old fashioned or just mistaken, but the point of an appetizer is to whet your appetite and give you something to nibble on while you await your main dishes. They are generally dishes that can get prepared and brought out quickly.
Well, we received our appetizer at 7:20...yes, 50 mins after we arrived at the restaurant. Our food got to the table at 7:35 - 65 mins after arrival. We saw the waitress a total of twice in that 65 mins. The food (which I had recalled as serviceable our previous few visits), was average again. Fries were not warm enough, burger was overcooked and the fixins were lacking.
Sadly - I think this will have been our final attempt to see another side of this restaurant. I do not enjoy writing negative reviews, and should probably take more time to write positive ones more frequently...but its become obvious that the only way for owners/management to make the necessary changes is to get social feedback.
Hubby and I had dinner at Whitewater (Lakeside) Brewery tonight. He had the prime rib dinner, while I had the roast chicken. Both meals were absolutely delicious. Each protein was accompanied by a complimentary sauce (gravy for the beef; creamy herbed sauce for the chicken), mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and seasonal veg). Very good value for money. If you haven't tried their Sunday Roast Dinner, I highly encourage you to do so.
Food is getting worse and worse. I order bacon on my poutine, and it is often missing despite being charged for it. Most of the time when they do put the bacon on, it's just bacon bits for salad. Other times there is no gravy, and it is bone dry. Really disappointed.
Great food, delicious stout, and really friendly staff!
