The Big Apple itself was a fun place to stop on a long drive and we enjoyed looking round. We bought some cans of blackcurrant cider and a bottle of caramel apple cider. Both were absolutely disgusting and got thrown away after a few mouthfuls. They just tasted like cheap nasty cider, no flavour of caramel or blackcurrant at all. Very disappointing .
We are big fans of the big Apple. Always stop and get pies or treats to come home. Tried the cider for the first time and it’s awful tasting. It tastes like it is rotten. Can’t even finish the glass. It’s a disappointment considering how good the rest of the Big Apple is.
This is some of the worst cider I've ever tasted. I got the a 750mL bottle of strawberry cider and had to throw it out after only two sips. It tasted flat, sour, and rotten. The caramel apple cider was better. However, I would still rank it below generic grocery store cider like Somersby and Angry Orchard.
Sadly the brewery was closed when we visited, but we did get to try some free samples at the grocery store within the location. The employee distributing these samples was very kind and informative, and the area was clean and organized. I just wasn't a big fan of the taste; it tasted too sweet, much to my surprise.I won't be buying the product, but those who prefer that flavour profile for cider will enjoy it more than I did. Kudos to the staff and production company though!
We like to stop here and pick up some goodies on our travels. Always a great experience. Most recently, we decided to try a few bottles of the 401 Brewery Cider. Got home, popped the cork on the Premium Apple Cider, and was thoroughly disappointed. Awful.Just awful stuff. Tasted like chemicals. Down the drain. Tried the second bottle which was a Cranberry Apple Cider...unfortunately it was only marginally better than awful. Let's call it Cranberry notes with a hint of pure diesel. Or maybe, the Big Crapple. Staff at the alcohol counter were not friendly at all and barely acknowledged me when I paid the $32 for this swill. What a huge disappointment. Stick with the candy and apple pies.
I had high hopes given that the big Apple is amazing but I found this cider to be good at best. Unlike some reviewers, everyone I interacted with, as always, were helpful and friendly. Although it wasn't a bad cider... I just didn't get a big "apple" flavour in it. I'll give it a go again in case my batch was off though. Regardless, stop in and see it because it's a really nice spot!
Service rep was nice at first, discussing flavours etc and we bought one bottle. Then we decided to instead buy 6 bottles to support local, give as gifts to friends and there was a 15% off for buying six or more bottles. So we asked if we could benefit from the 15% off given we had just purchased one bottle and wanted 5 more. This was in the span of 5-10 mins we never left the store. The reaction was “are you freaking kidding me” and proceeded to ask when we had bought it recently, we said just minutes before and showed the receipt, she proceeded to tell us the LCBO wouldn’t return alcohol (which is not true btw they do exchanges for unopened bottles), and was very flustered about it. A simple apology for inconvenience or just kindness would have been enough for us to just carry on and consider buying another bottle. We had no intention of arguing we simply went to grab a 7th bottle to benefit from the 15% off six to get out of the way and move on. But it is unfortunate to receive that type of service when your intentions are good. We understand people have bad days, but that first impression lasts.
No one that's into craft beer or cider should waste their time or money here.Unless you REALLY want to pad your Untappd checks.
Love the Big apple ..the food is delicious, apple crumble tarts are amazing... however not crazy about the 401 brewery cider. A little strong tasting.. definitely ask for a taste test before purchasing.
If you like moonshine, then I highly recommend this mix of pure alcohol smelling and ethanol tasting cider. WHOOOWE! It will put some unwanted hair on your chest. It helps that they harvest their apples off the side of the 401, you may get the diesel notes I got. All in all, thank you 401 brewery you really opened my eyes, very wide and took my breath away (actually).

Terrible services, I asked for a second samples of the cider and was rudely asked how many rounds of samples do I want! I was not aware of there is only one sample per person. I would not have asked if I knew. Racist against Asian as she treated others with a much welcoming tone. Will never come back
Bought the Apple Pie and Plum ciders for a treat- and they both tasted like a bottle of bad vinegar. Hopefully was just a bad batch. Very disappointing.
Stopped at the big apple and after a friendly greeting , a couple samples I left with a growler and really enjoyed it. Dry, and little stronger than usual
The Cider taste really strange.. The first bottle I opened had some settle in the bottom and I thought it turn bad. This is my second one call "Apple Pie" but it is nothing like apple pie at all.If you want to buy Cider here, make sure you taste test it before you buy any of those.I still have 4 more different kind of cider to go and I will update my review if I find something better.
We bought a variety of flavours: caramel apple, cranberry, apple and mixed berry and they all tasted the same. At that there wasn’t a whole lot of flavour to them. It seems impressive with the variety they have but it’s really only a tourist trap
