The Alphorn Restaurant Collingwood offers an authentic, old school apres ski experience and is considered a legendary spot that has stood the test of time. The interior is a unique time capsule Swiss ski chalet from the 1970s, transporting guests back in time. The walls are completely covered in history, featuring retro ski equipment, sports memorabilia, currency from around the world, taxidermy, and beer cans, ensuring there is always something interesting to look at.
The food is excellent and the real deal. Top tier menu choices include the schnitzel, knackwurst, fondue, spatzle, potato rosti, and beef stroganoff. The cheese fondue is noted as amazing. All desserts are made in collaboration with a local bakery, with the funnel cake being especially fantastic. The restaurant is also very keto friendly.
The atmosphere is cozy, charming, and known for being loud and lively, with perfect Swiss vibes. It is a great spot with a great vibe, especially after an active day. The culture includes Oktoberfest celebrations, New Year's parties, and unique traditions like a birthday song and a bell that, when rung, means a round of drinks for the entire restaurant. There is a large beer selection with over 50 beers from around the world via a beer passport. The hospitality is warm and welcoming, with top notch people providing great service. Overall, it is a fun, must-visit destination for a festive, ski spirit and an unmatched experience.
