We happened upon this place out for a stroll for dinner and they happened to have a cancellation! Small and unique decor. Every bite was delicious and the service was friendly and engaging. The secret sauce on the burger/steak… perfection!
We highly recommend and will return!

Trust me, if we had known in advance the feel of the restaurant, we would have have come with young kids. Whether you judged us and discriminated because we were young parents or because we were Asians, your treatment to us was not appropriate or welcoming. Treating customers like second class is not ok. Final answer.
Your truth is not the truth, or what we experienced. Racism/ageism is not what your intention is, it's what the other person feels as a result of your biased actions. The very fact that you start without any apology just shows you are probably actually discriminating without even understanding it. I'm confident you see mostly older White couples in your restaurant and I'm sure you can stay in business that way but it was hurtful how we were treated as parents and Asians. We were discriminated against and in your replies, your hate is showing.
Don't pretend you are a welcoming inclusive place for families unless you treat them like any other customers. Our family was polite and peaceful as any 3 child family could be. I don't think you have any personal experience with babies or toddlers given the lack of understanding, respect and compassion towards our young family.
We felt your staring and when our son was upset we took him out to not disturb others. We were respectful and tried our best in an environment that was not child friendly. But you have chosen instead to blame the customer. I'm really shocked and you must have no experience with kids under 5....

From the minute we walked in, we were made to feel unwelcome by the staff . Whether it was racism, ageism or our young kids (under 5), we did not feel comfortable or welcome. *I am not insulting the owner but just letting you know how we felt. This comment does not mean you are racist but we felt discriminated against. *
Caucasians in the restaurant were not ignored, and friendly conversation was made with them. The server ignored us and did the minimal they needed to earn a non zero tip.
The restaurant has continued to reply in insulting comments towards our children (further discrimination) and try to bend the truth (they acknowledge no wrong), so all I will say if you have young kids and /or you're ethnic, avoid this place. They feel, for example, that a one year old talking/making baby sounds is screaming. *Saying a babbling 15 month old baby (not crying) is too loud is actually insane**.
*Not just me - If you see several recent one star reviews, they all mention discrimination. This is a lived experience and the Caucasian owners are oblivious to this and not willing to accept any feedback... I would encourage them to read any modern book about diversity and subconscious racism. *
We have been to the Curly Willow numerous times, and the food is always very good. When I called to make a reservation a few weeks ago, they were not able to accommodate my requested time, so I said thank you we will try again another time. The owner essentially hung up on me which I felt was extremely rude. I doubt that I will return again.

Absolutely amazing dinner. Everything was perfect and Janna was a fabulous server who helped describe the menu items well. We will be back again soon and thrilled to discover this gem as new Collingwood residents.

Overall a very disappointing experience. The restaurant had a stuffy, weird smell. My meal was very salty and overpriced. The waiter did not really care whether we enjoyed the meal or not. Would not recommend. The patio looked nice but it was raining.
