We used to rate Hungry Sumo at 5 stars for the last 6 years. But going back for our anniversary, things were very different. Red Wine selection was pared down to a 10.5% house red by the 5oz glass that tasted powdered, or a $75 bottle of Cab Sav. I offered to pay more if they cracked open the decent red but no go. The excuse was tarrifs and sourcing wine local. Really? Niagara or Prince Edward county isn't far. Menu selection has also diminished with our favorite spider...
Trekked here from our nearby hotel during a cold winter evening and ordered two curry rice with karaage and some drinks to warm up.
The karaage was one of the best we’ve ever had; it was crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy on the inside! Curry was seasoned very well but we found the consistency to be more runny than expected.

My boyfriend and I have been to The Hungry Sumo twice now, and it’s officially our go-to sushi spot in Collingwood. From the moment you walk in, the staff are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and professional, which makes the whole experience even better. The food is absolutely amazing!
