Complete let down. When we arrived there were no customers yet we had to seat ourselves and go to the bar to order our drinks and food. The main server seemed to be having a rough day and was forgetful and her “helper” might have been new, but the childish talk between them while serving was off putting. So many of the good Mexican offerings have disappeared from the menu from days past. The taco wrap was good, along with the quesadillas. The nachos are smothered in liquid cheese making for soggy chips within minutes. I can see why the pizza place down the strip was slammed and this one was not. Won’t be returning.

Casa Hugo used to be a great Mexican restaurant. Now you must order food and drinks at the bar and they have ditched all of the Mexican food for sports bar food. Soo disappointed in this establishment. The bartender stated the changes are due to a lazy owner who doesn't have time for the restaurant and this way he can get away operating with less staff.

Ordered the Nachos and have never been so disappointed. Seemed like there were 30 beans on a tray of chips. Less than 1/2 of a diced tomato for an extra $6 we got a sour cream cup of pulled chicken. $24 for almost nothing. The restaurant is a self service operation. Not sure what we tipped for

This used to be one of our favourite places for a fun date night. First time coming this year and will not be returning. The menu no longer has anything authentic, subpar food quality. Pretzel came out still frozen, nachos were cold and the taco was basically just lettuce wrapped in a tortilla. We vacated at 6:15pm and there were only 2 other tables in the entire place, last year there would have been a long wait for a table. Very disappointing.

The service here is great, the atmosphere is great and the food is good. I love the outdoor area.
My recommendation would be to update your website / Facebook page so people know it’s not Mexican anymore. It’s great and we will be back. I think if people know it’s not Mexican they will be happy with everything. PS margaritas are fantastic!!

I should’ve read the Google reviews BEFORE visiting Casa Hugo! The place looks amazing but looks can be deceiving. The service was great - Kaleigh was lovely. The food was edible. Lunch for 4 was over $150 USD. It was not $150 good.

This was a great place for Mexican food. Was there yesterday and couldn't believe it changed. Had to go up and order, and once your food was ready, you had to go get it. Also, it took over 45mins to get our food after I complained because everyone who ordered after me was getting their food. The food was horrible and way overpriced! The only good thing was the guy taking orders. He was very energetic and friendly.

No bueno , not sure if menus changed but it was basically airplane food.

Nice patio though. Good spot for drinks, not tacos

Don’t come here for the food. Incredibly overpriced and the quality of a high school cafeteria. So disappointing. Staff were polite and helpful. Self service concept is ridiculous and a little disorganized. I am all for supporting local but my food was barely edible and won’t be coming back. Almost $70 (without tip) for chicken fingers and fries, bacon and cheese burger and fries, a pint of local beer and a Pepsi. They gave me no sauce at all for the chicken fingers, so o asked for buffalo sauce and got an unknown sauce which was most definitely not buffalo sauce. I’m sorry but eat anywhere else and just come here for a beer.

Casa Hugo needs to change back to a Mexican restaurant! There are so many other bar food types of restaurants near by. This was a little gem! The servers were extremely nice but the food was such a disappointment from years previously! Please consider changing it back!.

If you are interested in restaurant prices in a cafeteria setting you’ll love this place. If you also enjoy being served by a bunch of snot nosed condescending woke idiots you will also love this place.

Myself on the other hand would rather hammer my left testicle with a rock..:but hey to each their own.

Edit: I have been coming to Crystal Beach for years, and every year me and my husband and I looked forward to a few dates nights at Casa Hugo. It WAS one of my fav all-time restaurants. Today we came and they've rebranded, turned into a sports bar, no more Mexican food (barely), not gluten free friendly (before I could order the tacos on corn tortillas), just regular pub food now and they don't even serve you anymore. You order at the bar, from a menu that's only on the screen, and then you sit. It's so sad that one of my fav restaurants changed this much.

Edit and adding yo the review:
We got our food, and their taco is a burrito....it's a full-on burrito (see picture), but they call it a taco on the menu. Your little thing vibrates when your food is ready, you have to go up and get it. You bring it back to your table, no forks, no napkins, condiments. Nothing. We got up and got a condiment box from another table. We asked for napkins they said it should be in the condiment box, there wasn't any. We were sharing nachos, no plates, have to get up several times to get more napkins for the messy food we're eating. We had to get up and ask for cutlery....they don't give it to you with food.

This is the most bizarre experience I've had in a restaurant. Will not come back...ever

Terrible slow service food is not good used to be a Mexican restaurant that was amazing that is no longer the case
