Culinary Gem in Dundas!
Under the new ownership of Bowie Lam, Empress Wok has truly transformed into a must-visit destination for Chinese cuisine in Dundas. Bowie's flair for perfection shines through in every aspect of the dining experience, from the ambiance to the artistry of each dish.
The menu is a masterful blend of traditional favorites and innovative creations, all prepared with impeccable attention to detail. Every bite bursts with authentic flavors, showcasing the finest ingredients and expert techniques. The General Tso's Chicken is crispy, tangy, and perfectly spiced, while the Dim Sum selection is nothing short of divine.
Bowie's commitment to excellence is evident not only in the food but also in the warm and attentive service. The staff go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcomed and valued.
Dundas is lucky to have Empress Wok under Bowie's vision and dedication. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Chinese cuisine or a newcomer, this is the place to savor dishes that will leave you raving long after your meal. Highly recommended!
Parking: Super easy access with tons of parking right at the front door.

Very very greasy!! Got egg rolls, chicken balls, fried rice, noodles, general tao chicken, consommé & wonton soup. By time got home and took food out of bag, everything in bag was covered in grease. Consommé soup does not come with hard noodles. Flavours were mediocre at best. Was told it was going to take 20 minutes, arrived and it took more like 45.

We wanted to order food for New Year’s Eve dinner and forgot to do so ahead of time. We’ve learned it is so hard to get an order at almost all Chinese food places for dinner on NYE as it’s a popular/busy item on this holiday. As soon as this place opened at 11am we placed an online order. My husband went over and they gladly fulfilled our order and picked it back up within an hour. We are extremely happy and can’t wait to enjoy it all this evening.

Chinese food is my family's staple Christmas food. We decided to try this place since our old go-to declined in quality. We were super pleased.
We ordered about 300$, all of it was hot and in generous quantities. The food was delicious!
No complaints! Will be my new go-to for Chinese takeout.

Skeptical at first after reading mixed reviews on the restaurant, but decided to give it a shot anyways.
By far the best tasting chinese food in Hamilton, rivalling some of Toronto's greats. Tried a couple of wok and deep fried items, will definitely being go back for more next week. Best dishes were the chicken balls and black pepper beef.

READ THIS IF THIS IS A NEW ORDER OR RETURN CUSTOMER!!!
Very disappointed with Empress Wok. I used to order at least once a month until July and haven't until today. The food quality has dropped dramatically!!! And the prices have gone way up!
I typically ordered 2 main dishes, the empress platter (which has now gone up in price by $14) and a side of steamed rice.
For example the Empress Wok Platter ordered in July 2024 cost $23.49 and now in November 2024 cost $37.49!!!! Where did the extra $14 come from ??? Price gouging.
The curry chicken and the black pepper beef are now made with lower quality ingredients and jammed with large veggies to fill the space in the dish. Even going as far as putting cabbage in the curry to disguise it as chicken.
Shameful decline from this place. It WAS Amonthly treat for us but I will happily give my $70 to any other restaurant.
Look elsewhere for Chinese cuisine. I honestly super bummed I even had to write this review but I feel it was due for the food I was served at a greatly inflated price

This place used to be my favorite local Chinese restaurant. Ordered tonight for the first time in 4 months and was extremely disappointed. Not only did they increase the prices but the food tasted completely different. Clearly they have changed food suppliers, as the quality was severely lacking. The chicken curry and beef in black bean had very very little meat, almost the whole dish was broccoli and cabbage. Will not be ordering here ever again.
I was very hesitant to eat at Empress Wok in University Plaza in Dundas because their food was just not good the last few years.
It was poor quality ingredients - and food not made well.
The chicken balls used to be terrible - same with the fried rice
So maybe ate there once or twice a year at most when I was really craving Chinese food and didn't want to leave the Dundas / West Hamilton area.
Because there was no good Chinese food in the Dundas West Hamilton area.
Until the new owners took over.
I went online today to check their reviews and they have new owners for the last month.
So I thought I would give it a try since the reviews were really good.
I ordered Chicken vermicelli.
It is excellent !
*** Please Empress Wok , continue to make excellent quality tasting food - because you will get a lot of customers if you do.
I will definitely be back to try some more dishes.

I was craving Chinese takeout today for lunch so I decided to check this place out since I saw they had a good deal for their re-opening month under new management. The service was friendly and quick, my food came out hot and tasted fresh and most importantly, my chicken balls and pork had a perfect breading to meat ratio!! My cravings were definitely satisfied and the portions are generous so I had left overs for the next day too. Would definitely recommend.

I‘ve recently visited Empress Wok, and I can’t say enough about how fantastic the experience was! Under new management for the past month, this family-run restaurant has really turned things around. The new owners clearly have deep experience in Chinese cuisine, as every dish we ordered was incredibly flavorful and fresh.
I noticed some older reviews that don’t reflect the current quality here. I truly believe those comments are from before the new family took over, and they're unfair to this gem of a restaurant. If you’re craving delicious, authentic Chinese food, give Empress Wok a try—you won’t be disappointed. Great food and lovely, attentive service! :)

The food is pretty good and rice & noodle dishes good amount of proper pieces of meat & veg, not too pricey, orders are usually ready pretty quickly, and the staff is friendly enough, quiet but still nice.
