Pho Nam Thanh Restaurant & I Heart BoBa

What a hidden gem beside Walmart in Waterdown! It was my first visit, and it didn’t disappoint. The owner was incredibly welcoming, greeting us with a complimentary hot pot of tea—a perfect start on a cold night.

We began with the fresh shrimp rolls, a delightful combination of rice, bok choy, and shrimp wrapped in rice paper. While the peanut sauce was good, I highly recommend trying it with the hoisin sauce—a sweet and tangy Korean sauce that elevated the flavors beautifully.

For mains, I had the stir fried egg noodles with mixed vegetables and shrimp. The portion was massive, with fivd or six large prawns and perfectly spiced, fresh ingredients. My dining partner opted for the Pad Thai with beef, which had a unique red sauce with a mild spice kick. Both dishes were flavorful, generous, and priced reasonably at $17 each.

The freshness of the ingredients stood out, and we even had leftovers for lunch the next day. While the seating area could use a modern update, the food and hospitality made up for it. I’m definitely returning to explore more of the menu!

Update: we went back for more, this time we tried the beef rice roll, I prefer the shrimp one. For main course, I ordered the pad thai with shrimps and my wife ordered the stir fried egg noodles with mixed vegetables and beef. It was such satisfying choices.

We liked the food here but ultimately stopped coming due to the way we were made to feel like an annoyance. We came here maybe 30 times over 4 or 5 years, but haven't been back in a long time. On each visit, from the moment we walked in the door, we felt like we did something to irritate the owner. After a while we realized that it was just his personality, but often when we thought of coming here we chose to go elsewhere because we didn't feel like taking his poor treatment. I see from these reviews that we weren't alone and I'm not surprised. Walking in the door = looks like we annoyed him. Order food = that annoys him. Ask for something = definitely annoys him.

I love that there’s a bubble tea place inside the restaurant! Usually at other pho restaurants, they have a limited menu of bubble tea drinks to order from but here they have a whole bunch of options for you to choose from. The bubble tea was delicious and so was the pho! Service was good and fast.

Bought food for New Years Eve & all I can say is WOW!! huge hit and OMG mouth heaven…really good portion sizes and the flavour just explodes in your mouth! Can’t understand why this restaurant doesn’t have 5 stars as a rating, as a new customer all I can say is I’ll be a regular!!

Very bad customer service , was first time for me to order a bubble tea and I asked the server what is the most popular drink she answered with attitude which I didn’t like at all and every time I come she is not smiling or even welcoming you they have big issues to welcome or actually they don’t have a good communication skills to value their customers and the weird thing they ask for tip on the machine which definitely they don’t deserve it . I’m not cheap to do not give a tip but literally you don’t deserve it for your bad attitude and bad customer service .
