A Bitter Brew: Disappointing Service at The Wild Tart

I was incredibly disappointed with my recent experience at The Wild Tart. While the ambiance and decor are undeniably charming, the service and value proposition left much to be desired.

The high prices for the tea and pastries are justified only if accompanied by exceptional service. Unfortunately, our experience was far from it. We waited an agonizing 15 minutes for our tea and essential accompaniments like milk and sugar. Despite multiple requests, these items were delayed, forcing us to take matters into our own hands.

The lack of attention to detail was further evident when we were left without a simple tea spoon. We had to resort to using cutlery intended for our pastries, a truly bizarre and frustrating situation.

The manager's dismissive attitude and lack of apology added insult to injury. Instead of offering a sincere apology and swift resolution, we were met with indifference.

While I understand that high-end establishments often prioritize ambiance and aesthetics, it's essential to remember that the core of any dining experience is the service. The Wild Tart, unfortunately, fell short in this regard.

I would strongly advise potential patrons to consider their options carefully before choosing this establishment. A steep price tag does not automatically equate to a memorable experience.

We love the wild tart. Best brunch in Elora for sure! And we frequent for other meals as well. Most recently we used their services for private catering for a corporate event and they were incredible to work with. Attention to detail, met our goals, and everyone was so happy with the food.

I went for my mother’s bday and thoroughly enjoyed our delicious afternoon tea experience. We had the Niagara tea which was very sweet and the caramel tea (my mother loved one and I loved the other). It was more than enough food as we got the savoury experience - so I would highly recommend that menu item! The tea and the service was exceptional! I will be back with her again ♥️

The food was ok but the service is TERRIBLE! We waited 45 min for 2 eggs Benedict and a quish (they have them ready) I wondered if they were wating for the animal to lay down the eggs otherwise I couldn't find any other reason 😂.
The patio was neglected and could be 100 times better. I m not sure if I want to go back to this place

Slow wait to get seated (just 2 of us) and even longer to get our food. Went for lunch on a weekday, got there around 11:45 am, no one was seated in the dining room. We asked for a table in the back, looked like about 3 guests were seated and REST were empty. The waitress who looked tired, disinterested, dismayed, and perhaps overwhelmed said there is a wait to to be seated at the outdoor patio. We said, sure.

While we were waiting, (no one was seated in the indoor section, many tables there), another family (4-5 people) with 2 kids in strollers walked in, and asked for a table emphasizing and pleading they came out of town to eat at this highly rated restaurant. The same waitress unapologetically and uncaringly turned them away away, saying "no tables", you need a reservation. Sigh.

We have now been waiting 15 minutes for our table outside, mind you, we are now seated inside where there are many empty tables! Another 2 ladies walk in, a different waitress greets them, and they are given a table "inside" right away. So of course we interjected and said we have now been waiting 20 minutes for our table! She said, oh, there's seating at the back! lol. Yes we KNOW.

We ordered some egg dishes, took at least 30 minutes to get our food. Food was nothing special.

I felt horrible for the nice family that was turned away. I haven't decided yet if I will return.

Hire better staff!

Yesterday on September 9th
Went to this dining establishment.
My client and I ordered the same skillet breakfast but one with no bacon.
Unfortunately she was given my skillet of hot food with bacon.
We did not realize this until we had both eaten a substantial amount of our food .
My client chose to pick out the bacon.
We made it known to the hostess . She was somewhat helpful.
We were asked why didn't we switch our food (gross) or ask for another dish without bacon from the server who screwed up. Long story short we did not get changed for the one meal.
However it was the uncalled attitude towards my elderly client.
Who handled this situation quite well amongst the unprofessional attitude of the employee. This employee was sarcastic /apologetic. Making reference about actually getting a tip.
I hope that this employee receives some proper advice from the management.
I believe she is probably a good person having a difficult day.
The employee is fortunate to have such a patient and understanding customer.
However I myself do not tolerate this treatment of my client.
I have been an entrepreneur in the past and feedback is important .

Food was good!!.Waited almost an hr for our food. Definitely not worth $98 lunch, an open face sandwich over price & no side dish.

The Wild Tart is a hidden gem that provides a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed brunch. Our meal began with a warm, welcoming vibe that immediately made us feel at home. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and a slice of quiche, both of which were delicious and expertly prepared.

The Eggs Benedict featured perfectly poached eggs topped with a rich, creamy hollandaise sauce that was savory and flavorful. The ham was tender and complemented the eggs beautifully, while the sauce tied everything together, making each bite a delight. The quiche was equally satisfying, with a golden, flaky crust and a flavorful filling that was both light and rich. The quiche was topped with a tangy tomato chutney that added a burst of freshness.

Accompanying both dishes were crispy, golden-brown potatoes, seasoned just right, adding a satisfying crunch to the meal. The fresh, crisp salad, garnished with pickled onions, provided a refreshing contrast to the heartier elements of the meal.

The tea was a standout as well, offering a warm and aromatic experience that was the perfect complement to our meal. We chose to sit on the back patio, which was charming and peaceful—a true oasis that enhanced the entire experience. The Wild Tart is not just about great food; it’s about the entire experience.

We had breakfast and I had the Brioche French Toast with Blueberry compote. They were so flavourful that I did not need syrup. Light, fluffy and cooked perfectly. Everything on the plate was so delicious! If you are homefry fan these potatoes were perfection. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere is serene and nicely furnished. I would definitely recommend eating here during your visit..
