We really enjoyed our dinner at Chucks in Essex. Davis was our server and she was very attentive, offered recommendations and refilled our drinks before we even asked. She made our experience that much more enjoyable! Food was wonderful, and affordable. Will be coming back!

The service we had at this location was horrible tonight. The waitress, Maddy, barely spoke to us, and we needed to wave her down to order another drink. We asked for extra sour cream and salsa for our nachos, twice, which she never brought. She didn’t inform us that the kitchen was closing, after trying to order again at 10:45pm she went to ask the kitchen and told us it was closed. The service we get here is always much better than this and we are always told the kitchen is closing 15 minutes in advance. When I return I will ensure to ask for another waitress.

We had the worst service ever at this location. Our server, Maddy, never checked on us, didn’t give us a last call, and when we tried to order, she told us the kitchen was closed with a lot of attitude. We asked for extra sour cream and salsa with our nachos, but she never brought them. I even reminded her again, and still nothing.
We come here often and usually have a great experience, but after this, I’m not sure we’ll be coming back. Really disappointed.
We had the bruchetta Flatbread for an appetizer and it was fantastic! Filet and lobstertale for our meal. It was very good. Check on how the chef prepares the steak before ordering. We're glad we did. Our server Kat was great. Attentive, polite, friendly, and professional. Thanks for a great experience Kat. Chucks is a popular place so is always busy and a bit loud. That's the only reason I gave atmosphere a 4.

Chuck’s Roadhouse has been our regular Friday night go-to, and we’ve never had an experience like this; not even during the busy hockey season. We waited over 40 minutes for our food (just appetizers), and when we asked our server for an update, the only response we got was “the whole dining room is waiting.”
Meanwhile, we watched three large tables of 10+ people each leave within 10 minutes of our arrival, which was telling. After a total wait of 45 minutes with no further communication or apology, we decided to leave. We still left money on the table for our drinks out of courtesy.
We understand delays happen, but the lack of communication and care from the staff made this visit especially disappointing. This isn’t the level of service we’re used to at Chuck’s, and we truly hope it was just an off night.
I never have a good time coming here. Foods bland and cold. If you ask to have it made fresh and hot. The wait staff gives you attitude.

Save your money it's not worth it and not as good as it use to be. Between management and mainly the owner, they have forced it down hill.

Great location, one of my favorite in the city with a wonderful bar and dining room staff and the food always tastes yummy. Davis is one of the best servers we have experienced while dining at Chuck's. Bravo 👏
I just visited your establishment with my 89 year old father. He happened to have to visit the restroom while he was there. He went in the restroom and there was no light switch for him to turn on so needless to say it was pitch black. A woman came from the women's washroom and he came back out and told him to use the women's because the light was on. Him being a proud 89 year old man who has all his faculties refused to use the women's washroom. Then he was told that the light switch was out the door and around the corner in the bar area. So if he, being as old as he is, was in there and someone decided to turn the light off what in god's name do you think would happen? I shall mention too that he walks using a cane. He went back into the washroom and wondered why people weren't flushing the toilet only to discover that when he tried the handle just spun around and didn't flush and when he went to dry his hand there was nothing to dry them with. I'm sure this is something that the board of health would not take lightly! He came back to the table and told me what happened, which I believe because I saw them switch the light on for him. We frequently (2 days a week) go into town for dinner so we decided on your establishment as we have been before and we're happy with it but now we have decided we will NOT be going back. I hope you rectify this problem for your other customers because it is very unsanitary for a restaurant!!! He did however say that the food was excellent and wanted me to convey that to you so it's really sad for you we won't be back because he eats out quite often.

Food is okay. To me, they try a little too hard and add to many flavors.
Great that they make everything in-house with local ingredients.

I have frequented Essex location often. Since they opened in fact. Some small issues but was generally decent. Feb 14th was and will be last time. Steak way over cooked. Well done with a med/rare stick in it. Manager comes out and tells me it was cooked med/rare ( Im wrong in other words) but will cook me another. Ive cooked and ate enough steaks that i know what med/rare looks and feels like. Not a hockey puck btw.
Grand daughter had fish that smelled and tasted extremely fishy.
Wife had a vegan burger. She said had way better at fast food chain.
So after a half hour, wife ate, grand daughter ate her fries and 3 small pieces of fish, my steak is still a no show. Waitress who was great, apologized and said she didnt know what was happening.
I had her take the steak off the bill and I paid and left for the last time. I have never complained about a restaurant but was extremely disappointed this time around and have noticed a steady decline in the food....Sorry Chuck we wont be back
