Canton House Buffet Restaurant

I don't even want to give them a 1 star rating. On December 24th I called at 2 pm and asked if I could place a take out order for 6 pm pick up. The young woman says yes but they couldn't have it ready until 7:45 pm. No thanks!!
So fast forward to new years eve @ 3 pm. I figure I'll give them another try. I ask if I could have a take out order for 5:30 pm pick up. 2 combination plates....that's it. Not a dinner for 20. Again the young lady says could you pick up at 7:30 pm. No!!!!
This place is a joke!!! Maybe hire some more staff. If I had come to eat in would they ask you to come back 3 hours later. Simply ridiculous! I won't be calling ever again.

No msg is amazing. Crisp amazing vegetables were on point. Customer service is second to none. I didn’t realize that beef with broccoli came with no beef. Similarly with the curried beef. Lots of great veggies but less than an once of protein in both dishes. Even awful food court establishments give you more beef than broccoli. Maybe rewrite the menu so as to not mislead your customers. We’ve been loyal cash customers for a while now, several years actually , but need more protein, if the protein is listed first on your menu, before we come back. Sad, as the veggies are good, but paying $80 for nothing but stir fried veggies, isn’t worth a trip back. The $18 shrimp were inedible as we had to pour liquid, which hadn’t already soaked the carry out bag, as well as my vehicle seat, before we could open up the cardboard carry out box.

I feel bad for giving this review as we used to truly enjoy their food. However, $80 for misrepresented food and inedible shrimp, makes me want to spend that $ elsewhere. There’s Thai, Caribbean, curry, all within walking distance of Canton House. I’m sure my $80 would be appreciated by other food establishments within the area who hopefully can provide more protein to their protein forward fishes.

I have been a regular for a few years. Sometimes I eat in or call in advance for pickup. Service and Food are excellent. My go to with every meal is the homemade egg rolls. Delicious!

I just moved from Toronto to this small town of Exeter, and ordered a 2 person chinese dinner for pick up. To be fair, I didn't expect much. The order was quick, hot and felt heavy to carry. I was pleasantly surprised how good their food was. I normally dont eat the sweet and sour sauce on the chicken balls. It was warm so i tried it and it was delicious, as were the chicken balls. The dough was so good and more chicken than dough. The beef chow mein had crunchy veggies and was not over cooked. Fried rice was not too salty and great also. I called them to tell them how good their food was.

Family style restaurant serving good wholesome food. Plenty of flavour and willing to customize. Wait staff speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Good place to try with Chinese foods in Exeter. Very good deal for lunch special meal.

First time but might be my new favourite place in town!! Not greasy like other Chinese restaurants, even my rice was soft & moist. Great prices and portions. So glad they have my husband's go to meal (a burger) so we can both eat here.
