I will give the rating of 2 as the food was excellent once again, however, we had reservations for 6:30 with friends on a Saturday night. They were certainly not swamped with customers. We felt rushed from the time we got there at 6:25 and at 8:05pm the waitress told us we had to leave as they needed the table. Our food did come out until 20-25 minute after we ordered but we had already been there a half hour or so before we ordered. What if we had ordered appetizers and then also decided that we wanted coffee or dessert after dinner? We would have had to eat dessert in the parking lot. Definitely not enough time to order apps, entrées, dessert and coffee. We all looked at each other in awe as there was plenty of room at the bar for people to wait and some side tables empty to the right as you walked in the front door. The table behind us was also leaving at the same time and there was nobody at the front door to come in. I did not get to finish my last glass of wine either. Very disappointed as we were not told there was a time limit. It was a waste of an hours drive there to be kicked out of our table without finishing our drinks or conversation with friends. It is unlikely that our friends will make reservations again at this restaurant. Very disappointed when some restaurants are hurting for patrons to keep their doors open.

The Broken Gavel is one of my favourite restaurants anywhere. The food is cooked to perfection and you will never leave hungry! Staff are friendly and courteous and the atmosphere is relaxing.

I have visited this very popular place a few times. I recommend getting reservations as it is generally quite busy. The food is sort of an upscale pub style with something for everyone, and some great unique takes on dishes. I haven't had a bad meal here and highly recommend it.

We arrived just before the kitchen closed. Our server welcomed us and let us know we could take time to decide what we wanted, no rush. The menu has interesting takes on the usual pub fare and is fun to read with its court life references. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly, obviously a spot for locals. The food was very good, prices reasonable and I can’t stress enough how friendly our service was.

I was greatly impressed with the attentiveness of the serving staff, the music and the general appearance. My french onion soup contained raw onions which turned the soup very acidic. The Eco Law was overcooked vegetables combined with goat cheese that I thought would be a garnish was actually stirred in to create a solid mush of blandness on a bun. Also the meat loaf/green beans consumed on a previous occasion provided a night filled with intestinal distress.

Food was incredible (the bread pudding was honestly the best I've ever had). Portions were huge. Menu is bigger than I remember, so many choices (food and drink). Amazing value, so much cheaper than the big chains. Service was great, our server continued to go out of his way to acknowledge our anniversary and make it that much more special.... see the candle in the bread pudding, table decoration and his well wishes. Thanks for making our evening a special one. We'll go back again for sure and not wait 8 years this time.

You get exactly one and a half hours to eat your dinner before the waitress comes to get your tab paid. I had a very chewy beaf sandwich with a Caesar salad with a hint of Parmesan.Don’t waste your money.
