A Disheartening Experience for True Lovers of Indian Cuisine

Visited Fergus Tandoori Grill on September 1st, 2025 at 5 PM, hoping to share a flavorful Indian meal with my family. As someone who grew up with the rich, diverse tastes of Indian cooking, I was deeply disappointed.

Every dish—whether beef, chicken, lamb, or vegetable—was drowned in the same generic gravy. No distinct flavors, no thoughtful preparation, and certainly no respect for the culinary traditions that make Indian food world-renowned. It felt like a shortcut kitchen, not a celebration of spice and soul.

Presentation was lackluster, and the taste was flat. It’s heartbreaking to see the essence of Indian cuisine diluted like this, especially in a place that claims to represent it. I voiced my concerns to the front desk executive, and I truly hope they take it seriously.

To my fellow food lovers: if you’re seeking the real taste of India, this is not the place. I would never recommend Fergus Tandoori Grill to anyone who cherishes the depth and diversity of Indian cooking.

Please, don’t let this be your first impression of Indian food. It deserves better.

Very disappointed with this place. The food does not taste good at all , every dish had the same gravy, with just a different meat thrown in. Extremely overpriced for the quality. They call it an Indian restaurant, but this is nowhere close to authentic Indian cuisine. Definitely not worth the money. If you come across this restaurant, better to avoid it

It was okay but for the price not so much. I think the Naan bread I got had been reheated because it was rubbery. Nothing really stood out for me.

My wife and I ate there for the first time. And it was excellent I believe it was the owner That served us. Gave us complimentary. Appetizer , my food was excellent and one of the cooks even showed me how they made They're bred in a tandoori Oven. Will definitely go back.

I had a truly disappointing experience at this restaurant. Upon entering, the reception lady greeted us with an attitude that was anything but welcoming. Her tone was rude and dismissive, making us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than valued customers.

When we politely requested tea, she flatly refused, stating, “This is a dine-in, not a tim.” This kind of response was uncalled for and extremely unprofessional. Regardless of the establishment’s policies, there’s a way to communicate with customers respectfully—something this place clearly lacks.

We left feeling unwelcome and disrespected. There’s no reason to settle for such poor service. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The attendant was really rude and did not treated us properly. We were in search of an Indian restaurant but this was not what we expected. She refused to serve us tea for starting and made a really mocking face.
Will not recommend this to anyone.
Bullshit it is.

Tasteless food. Wrong place for an Indian guy to go. I would rather travel to Brampton/orangeville

Disappointing experience. 20 years ago we loved this restaurant and fairly frequently ordered takeout or took the family there for dinner. No doubt the ownership has changed but so has the commitment to food quality and service. We had takeout butter chicken, lamb korma and butter naan. Usually that would last us two meals. The meat was sparse in both curries, the sauces watery and the naan thin and tough. A takeout order took 40 minutes to prepare and, on pickup, the staff person chose to play on his phone rather than serve me, the only customer in line. He even picked up an incoming call before paying any attention to a customer in front of him, wallet out and ready to pay. We won’t be back.

We have ordered multiple times from this place over the last 3 years and each time we thought "must've been a busy night for them" or "this is just a one time mistake" as excuses for the poor quality food. Note, each time was takeout because the atmosphere of the restaurant is not the best.

We have had their sag paneer, the butter chicken, lamb Rogan Josh, vegetable korma, mango Lassi, and some garlic naan. The Rogan Josh and mango Lassi were done well, but the rest of the order was not... The butter chicken was okay, but the sauce was watery and the chicken was not the best. The garlic naan was okay, just very doughy/bready and not that garlicky. The sag paneer was weird.. it did not just have spinach in it, there were other green leafy vegetables which is okay, but the sauce was also oddly sweet. We struggled to finish it. Lastly the vegetable korma... It was the worst curry. We did not even eat it. All the vegetables inside were mush and looked and tasted like they were from frozen. The sauce also wasn't very good, or at least not to our liking. In total our dinner was around $74.

Around an hour after our meal, my family and I felt awful, completely bloated and burping up the meal. We think that they used poor quality or old oil for the curries.

Overalls I do not recommend this place because the food is expensive, just like every other place these days, and the quality of food does not live up to it at all.

We have been ordering takeout from The Fergus Tandoori Grill for years and are always pleased with our food. It is flavourful and consistent. The prices have crept up over the years so we only treat ourselves on special occasions. We have had nothing but positive experiences here.
