I have no pictures to post, because I don’t believe in that kind of thing. The atmosphere is eclectic and warm, like a best friend’s living room. The menu options, creative and thought provoking. I got the special which was venison loins served over parsnip mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and roasted vegetables. It was to die for. Coming from a Mennonite background creamed corn isn’t exactly atop my list of delicacies. Chef Shawn’s execution of a dish knows no bounds and I was floored by the flavour. My wife had the pork loin with sweet potato gnocchi and although that shouldn’t make any sense on paper it tasted absolutely fantastic. Not to mention, the homemade sweet grass soda which delivered perfect flavour, and levity. On to dessert they served a pumpkin (yes really) and Nutella crepe. This crepe had no business being as perfect as it was. It was as if God himself had came down to bless its flavour. The pumpkin mousse was perfectly textured and JUST sweet enough, without losing the pumpkin flavour. Best meal I have had all year, likely longer. I also purchased some butter tarts, a sausage roll and a goat triangle. Every single one of these pastries once again were some of the best food I have ever eaten. I have paid a lot more money for a lot less flavour than here.
The service from the waitresses was warm and very friendly. It felt like dining at a good friend’s house.
Can’t wait to be back.

Not very often are we this blown away by everything that a place has to offer. From the professional but warming service, to the unique experience to the magical flavours that the food offers. Passion is one word to describe this restaurant. You can tell that they pour their whole heart into it and the chef ; Shawn is remarkably talented. We ordered the dessert ; a Nutella pumpkin crepe? Who would think to put those flavours together? Yet it worked so well. Can’t say enough great things about our time here. Just make sure you bring cash, make a reservation!

Our visit to the Flying Chestnut was incredible. The building itself is full of character and charm and the decor in the dining room gives such a funky, warm, home-like feel! The food was hearty and filling and delicious. If you are lucky enough to snag a reservation here and taste Chef Shawn’s creations, you won’t regret it! We hope to be back soon!!

Tonight’s special was rabbit with a venison sausage over mashed and vegetables. I have eaten rabbit all over Europe, where it is a staple food, prepared in various local styles. Tonight’s was the absolute best I have ever had, bursting with flavour. As always, the service, drinks, and ambiance were outstanding! Highly recommend.

So delicious, I really wish there was another location closer to where I live. My work has been using the Flying Chestnut for our corporate events for the last few years & it is always a hit. Very fresh ingredients & healthy.

OMG. THAT IS ALL!! Just go. (This rare gem is very seasona)l. You may need to book well in advance and plan to go maybe only certain times of year. Weekends and fall, winter spring only. I believe they close down for the summer festival circuit where they offer their mobile style service. OUTSTANDING EVERYTHING if you get a chance to make a seated reservation in Eugenia

The chef has catered an event that I attend. For the fourth or fifth year in a row, he has been notified of dietary restrictions well in advance of the event and has completely ignored them.
What an absolutely amazing dinner experience provided by Sean and his staff! 🤩 The atmosphere was amazing, the service was impeccable, always making sure we were taken care of. We left absolutely satisfied—the food was delicious and mouthwatering! 😋 #Restaurant #Dinner #Foodie #Amazing #Service #Food #

Holy SMOKES - This place is 11/10. My boyfriend and I visited for the first time for dinner on Valentine’s Day and had the most delicious food of our lives. We were in disbelief each time the next course came out. Crazy good and the ladies working were so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was also super cool. We will absolutely be returning!

So disappointed 😞 we have been waiting 3 years for our schedule to line up to when one of the open weekends would happen. You see this restaurant does not have regular business hours it opens randomly when the owner is available. You need to follow on Instagram to get notice of when there will be service.
We were so excited to go! It's a really great building and the restaurant itself is not huge but has a good vibe. The service staff is friendly and attentive.
You have to be adventurous with what you will eat as you have no idea until you arrive what will be on the menu.
We order starters, I had lobster and goats cheese fries, they were underseasoned but other wise tasty. Others at the table had a Mediterranean salad and it was very good. We were so pleased!
For mains we ordered fajitas, pickerel and a mushroom rabbit pasta.
First off, the veg sides of some kind of corn, pureed carrot, and undercooked broccoli were served with every main.. with the fish, I understood the pairing, but with the pasta and the fajitas, it was a strange mix.
The fajitas were horribly tough. The pasta lacked flavour.. there was a single note of the rabbit and that was it. The pickerel main was the best by far for all around composition but the portion of the fish felt small.
The mains were priced between $36 to $42, so at that price and the chef's reputation, we were expecting more.
Sadly based on this experience Iwe won't be returning.
