Went in for lunch. Waited almost 40 minutes for takeout. Food was mediocre at best. The pork poutine was more like cold pork and soggy, stale fries. 🤷🏽‍♂️ The fish was bland. Locals warned us it was meh but we didn't have many options on an off-season Saturday for lunch. They ran out of cod at lunch? 🤔

Two of us dined in for a bite to eat on a rainy weekday in October. The name stood out to us online and the diner has a comforting Ma & Pa feel. Staff was friendly and flavours were basic but still hit the spot! The french onion soup and the poutine were fantastic. The club sandwich was okay and fish tacos missed the mark for me, but I still would be back for another french onion soup and try out their fish and chips!

Good prices, great food, and awesome service. When we went it was completely empty and only took about 10 minutes to get our food.

I had the pulled pork poutine, which was delicious. The French fries were fresh cut, the pork was tender, and just enough sauce and cheese. It's a big bowl of yummy and definitely shareable. Our server was very busy but kept her smile.

Great breakfast, great friendly service. The eggs were perfect and the home fries were cooked properly. What a great start to a Camp day.

Given the limited options in town, I thought the food was good and they had a lot of options. Food was good too and it can be pricey but given they are seasonal, I thought prices were reasonable.

We arrived after quite a drive, we decided to visit Cod Mothers for dinner. The food is quite exquisite, very clean, very eye and belly attractive haha. We were also greeted with a clean environment and very friendly staff, our customer service was far and well beyond our expectation. Beverages and food were brought out in a quickly and timely manner, we could even have a good an honest conversation with our waitress. We will definitely be going to Cod mothers anytime we stop by the area.

First time visiting the area. Location is cute! Small inside, but there is a patio up a (third) set of stairs. We ordered at the front and then told them we were going to the patio with our dog. The young waitress was great, except that she came upstairs to tell us our food was ready at the front, rather than bringing it to us?

When initially ordering, another waitress told me it was going to be a long wait, which I was okay with. Immediately after agreeing, she told the younger waitress to “pick up the pace” right in front of me. I stood there for another 5-10 minutes before they even asked me what I wanted. I assume they were hoping I would just leave?

Fish was alright, large pieces. Fries were bland, but alright. Coleslaw was good.

Super cute fish statue out front.

Absolutely delicious! I worked at The Olde Yorke Fish & Chips in Toronto for five years, and I take my fish and chips very seriously. The Codmothers' haddock and cod were quite possibly the freshest, tastiest fish I've ever had. The batter was light, flaky, and deep fried to perfection. The onion rings were made fresh to order and had a perfect ring-to-batter ratio. We rounded out our meals with a selection of beer from the local Split Rail Brewery, all of which were full of flavour and complemented our food very well.

A few of the reviews made me a little nervous to come here, but I'm so thrilled we decided to give it a try anyway. This was exactly what we were looking for and we couldn't be happier. Thank you, Codmother!

Worst fish and chips ever. Fish was barely cooked. French fries were soggy.

We love this charming neighborhood restaurant. In a small town, with very few dining options, we were worried it may be a tourist trap. This couldn't be further from the truth. Warm friendly service. Extremely clean. Homestyle food. Good options.
Great prices. Desserts made in house. We had clubhouse sandwiches which were great (even without butter and mayo which is a feat) and split a homemade warm bread pudding with ice cream. The bread pudding alone is worth a visit. Heavenly.
