It turned out that a distraught server into gaslighting and a haughty manager were doing numbers with the phones, i.e., often not allowing one in and playing games with seating availability. In fact, one night, the manager apprised me that staff did not feel at ease serving me--with no explanation, even making an erroneous insinuation and ordering me to leave. I have never been refused entry to any bar or restaurant before. Moreover, I had conducted some networking to develop their business and assisted another server, in university, with their educational project. I contacted the priggish owner (again), who offered the same vague explanation as the manager regarding my rejection. Some folks do not belong in the bartending industry. Eschew them!

Sincerity and integrity once meant something. To illustrate the lack of such, picture this: one frequents a locale for a couple of years without any issues with their staff. However, one night the manager, acting imperiously, prevents their entry. The reason, they say, is because their servers felt perturbed by your presence. You go to the owner for clarification who, condescendingly, offers a nebulous explanation for your rejection. This has never happened to you anywhere before and one wonders if some vindictive person in there is experiencing private turmoil and taking it out on you. Lesson learned: the taste of a sumptuous meal and fine tipple are forgotten when one is inexplicably disposed of like weekly refuse.

Best place I’ve been to in Sudbury. Such a unique experience. No kids, and is a special feeling to enter it. Ps the tip is already included.

Initially, I was a bit hesitant because I found the “hidden” entrance and phone booth thing a bit tacky and pretentious to be honest. I get the speak easy theme, so I figured I would give it a try. However, once past that, the actual place was very nice, stylish, and comfortable with a cool vibe. My drinks were really, really good. It’s hard to find a good cocktail place. Drinks were well thought out, well balanced, not over strong, and not too weak. Not too sweet either. Food was really good, better than I expected. Pickled quail eggs and baked calamari was so good! Defiantly would go back.

This was one of my favourite bars downtown to have a delicious drink and chat with friends, but I have now been treated quite rudely by the bartenders on two separate occasions and I don’t think I will be going back.
First, we called using the phone and were simply told “It’s too busy in here, see you next time” and hung up on. Not the worst but a little rude!
Second, we made a reservation for 10pm and they somehow lost our reservation. The bartender said she would come speak with us in 5-6 minutes while we waited outside in the cold. The door opened so we went downstairs into the bar and asked the bartender if we could sit down anyways because there was an empty table. She said they were extremely busy and that someone called in sick, and that “she wouldn’t be giving us very good service” if we sat down. So we left. Maybe hire more bartenders? That will be my last time attempting to get in to this bar.

A gorgeous, cozy space. Can't wait to go back.

This place was fun, but I do think it was a one-time experience for us. We visited with friends from out of town for a couple of drinks and some food.

The team didn't seem aware of our allergies & dietary preferences, despite noting them in our reservation, so we had to explain them to our server again. There seemed to be few options for our party member who could not have sugar, unfortunately.

The food was nice, but very small plates and very expensive for what you get (even being a living wage employer and not asking for gratuities). Think quick snack, not a meal.

The Night Owl nails the ambiance, but overall is a bit overpriced for what you get. It won't be a regular stop for us.

Finally had a chance to visit and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was perfect; from the lighting and decor, to the music playing in the background. I had the Bramble and she had a Martini (which was the best ever) and we ordered a few selections from the menu. The mushroom flatbread was delicious. Calamari was crispy. And the lamb spedini was the best I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend. We will be back for sure. Thanks for an amazing experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Night Owl: A Hidden Gem Worth Discovering

Night Owl is not just a bar—it’s an adventure. Your journey starts at a hidden phone booth. Dial the secret code, navigate a dimly lit hallway, and push open a bookcase door to reveal a cozy, vintage-inspired speakeasy.

The atmosphere is unmatched, but the true highlight is the service. Our server, adorned with stunning pin-up style tattoos, was exceptional—knowledgeable, friendly, and spot-on with her recommendations.

Whether for a date night or a unique outing, Night Owl is a must-visit. Find the phone booth and experience it for yourself!

Jazz night Thursday was great.
First time was a quiet night, but the trio was very good.
Fun cocktails and great grazing food.
We will be back on the regular.

A true jewel when visiting downtown Sudbury. Mid-century cocktail lounge vibe with an impeccable drink menu and delicious, well prepared appetizers and food. Like travelling back to more beautiful, elegant times.

Honestly it was right there, the place is super cute the idea is fabulous, super intimate & sweet setting for a date night the waiter was very cool and kind, food came out quickly ,Unfortunately we ordered the lamb& calamari and very bland and chewy we didn’t even finish our food, paid nearly 80$ for 1 drink 2 apps and left to get Mexican . I was super disappointed and probably won’t be back , but the idea is super cool and a neat way to get out of the house but it is pricey and personally didn’t enjoy the food.

Love the idea of the speak easy with the dial phone and secret entrance. Very initiate dark setting, perfect for date night conversation (not great for any photos so you better enjoy your company ;) )

Food was good but not sure for the price. However, my partner and I liked the restaurants approach to liveable wages for its staff so didn’t mind.

Will be back to scout out more of their signature drinks!
