Gross management and dirty. prioritize aesthetic over kitchen safety and sanity

Debra Farquharson

After 30 years I’m sad to say I won’t be back. Today the food was cold and bacon was not extra crispy, potatoes dry and cold, eggs luke warm. After sending it back after eating most of the eggs and part of a piece of toast they told me I had to pay “because I ate most of the food”, which I clearly did not. After complaining they gave me 20.% off a meal I didn’t eat. I told the waitress it was disgusting. I also mentioned that I’d been coming for over 30 years and just 2 weeks ago and it was excellent, upon checkout I was told they are under new management and I had to pay “because I ate most of the food”! I told them I would Not be returning and they’ve just lost a 30 year patron.

Long established , small town diner with the ability to provide fairly priced and tasty food. Congrats to the new owner.

WHERES THE PEANUT BUTTER?

Ok. Standard on everything.
More of a grounded home style place and food so for me nothing special really stood out.
Food was ok. They need a bit of work on fries. Like the fact that they cut their own, however not the best, soft and limp, if you like it that way.
House cut fries need to be the right potatoe, and cooked right, not many get it done right.
My plate of the 'hot turkey sandwich' was ok. The veg (likely frozen) had a nice seasoning on it but was overpowering.
The turkey club passed as good, but dry toast and turkey, mayo was given in a couple of portion units. Fries were same as mentioned.
In our group the sandwichs were good. The people with the breakfast, which is all day++, didn't look all that great.
To sum up...it's ok just don't expect anything to wow you.
Over $40 with a tip and we had no beverages at this lunch time.
Would I go back. Not likely. But it's an ok place if all else fails.
As a side note, kitchens, food and service have been the majority of my life. I always try to give a fair and honest assessment and evaluation and usually on the generous side.

Parking: No dedicated parking. Street parking, lower municipal parking.

Great place for breakfast. Staff were friendly and courteous. Food was served fast, hot and fresh. The homemade butter tarts are to die for and delicious.

I hope the servers who looked after us get to read this post. My husband and I had great service. Our server filled my water bottle and another server, seeing me eyeing onion rings going by, brought me one perfect onion ring on a plate. It was so kind and we had a great lunch. Butter tarts were a yummy desert! Thanks. I wish I knew the ladies' names, but they know who they are!! John and Lillian Foulkes

We waited over an hour to even order and they forgot to enter the order at all. When we finally got it corrected, we got no apology and the staff was so dismissive and refused to accept the mistake. No drinks, no cutlery, wrong orders, every mistake in the book. The owner is totally ok with their terrible service and offered the smallest discount and no sincere apology. Completely avoid this place in the Halliburton area in favour of restaurants that actually know how to operate and treat their customers.

Wanted to love it. Staff was lovely. Bathrooms clean. Very hot ey and nostalgic. But the food was not good. In fact we took it as take out and did not eat it. Egg sandwich...soggy toast. But burnt bacon (or at least dried out so it just crumbles and falls out when you bite it) and white flavourless tomatoes no butter on bread maybe a bit of mayo on one slice couldn't tell. Maybe a bad day but wasn't really busy 3 tables of breakfast eaters. But they have many other things ....maybe that's where they excell
