I grew up in the Kawartha Lakes, and visited the Haliburton area growing up. Three years ago my husband and I relocated here from Peterborough, Ontario during the pandemic. When we first arrived here, we were homeless and living in a hotel and later, a tent. My husband and I were walking around one morning, looking for a good cup of coffee on the main street, and we happened to wander into Up River Trading Co., and we immediately fell in love! The cheerful "good morning"...
It was my first time visiting Haliburton. Rented a cottage and came across this shop/cafe in their town. I was so surprised they had Balzac’s coffee since i’m an OG drinker of their coffee even at home that’s what we drink. Order two vanilla iced latte’s to go and oh boy it came in a huge cup. Super worth it in my opinion, I’m glad to see small towns with good cafes!
