Balzac's Coffee Roasters

Got the honey cardamom latte and they didn’t make it properly. The honey was stuck to the bottom of the cup and there was barely any cardamom in it. Wouldn’t pay $7 for this.

I love this place! I came on a quiet weekday afternoon on a hot day. It’s a nice place to get a sweet treat and refreshing drink, while reading a book from the local library down the street. I recommend the matcha or lemonade if you are not a coffee drinker.

Enjoyed coffee and a blueberry scone this morning. Busy place, they could’ve been short a barista, but the service was decent overall. Not a lot of available seating for a group of 5 so we walked the main street to McMichael. Washroom was clean.

Balzacs is one of THE best coffee out there! My flat white was worth the 2 hour drive! Lol. Truly it is good coffee. They roast their own beans so the beans are fresh. Their menu is not huge but everything is class act. The people working there seem to share my love of good coffee so it makes for a very lovely experience. Hopefully Balzacs will open more shops. What a treat!

The pastries cabinet is filled with flies. Baristas didn’t seem to care even after I mentioned it. You can clearly see hundreds of flies sitting on the muffins. So gross.

I used to really like this cafe, nothing to say to the coffee and deserts but the hygiene cleaning is the actual problem, the washrooms, places to sit and the cafe in general was very dirty and disturbing to say the least, there were many spider webs in multiple areas of the store, many flies and just generally very dirty to sit and drink and eat anything at all.

Terrible service. Walked in to order a simple coffee and the baristas wouldn't stop talking amongst themselves. The place was empty. At least acknowledge your customers when they walk up to the counter. Complete apathy from the staff. If service is this poor I worry about the quality of the food being served...

Just an awful experience from start to finish. The staff was terrible. The woman at the cash register was so miserable I almost felt bad for her. The man running around was no help to the other two, and the woman working the machine seemed clueless and indifferent. She steamed the milk for so long, you’d think she was making a soufflé. The espresso shot wasn’t even tamped properly. It was painful to watch.

The worst part was the dishonesty. They advertise their pumpkin spice latte as using real pumpkin purée and maple syrup. We asked before ordering, and they confirmed it was real. But we found out it was just the fake bottled stuff you can buy on Amazon. The PSL was undrinkable due to the gross syrup, burnt espresso, and milk that was more like hot cottage cheese.

We gave them another chance and ordered an iced latte, sweetened with ‘real’ maple syrup, as they claimed. Again, it turned out to be the fake bottled syrup. It’s really sad to see what used to be a respected café go downhill like this.
