Linda and I discovered the South Glengarry a few months ago, loved it, and have visited several times. Yesterday we arrived for supper and were warned that service might be a bit slow because they were short-handed. However, we were seated promptly, and served not only by the regular waitress but also by Abby, who confided to us that she was usually a dishwasher but was helping out in the dining room. Abby did a fantastic job, getting us waters and additional napkins and wet wipes (Wing Night, yum!), always eager to please and with a smile on her face. We were most impressed with her abilities and recommend her for a waitress position if and when it becomes available. And the food was delicious, as usual!
Ate there after a bike ride (i.e. starving!). The staff was friendly and attentive. Food was unimpressive. Clean bathrooms.

This restaurant is definately worth stopping at. The food is excellent the service is excellent and its got a nice relaxing atmosphere. The mushroom swissburger is amazing with onion rings and they provide garlic dip for the rings. Bring some breath mints!

Service was a bit light and the wait was long. The servers seemed a bit overwhelmed — possibly just too many customers at once.
That said, the food was good, the coffee was great, and the prices were reasonable.

Good old country diner food. The portions were large enough to choke out a lumberjack. Good, simple diner food. Really great service from nice folks

1st time, food is delicious, homestyle kitchen taste, hot and fresh. We will be back!
Thank you, Diane for the excellent service.

Management is very unprofessional to their employees. I can’t elaborate unfortunately, but we will never go there again. We’ve shared our experience with our camping and hockey family, many of them will not go there again.
If you only care about a food review, no problem the food is great and service is hit or miss.
Take that with you and I wish you peace and a pleasurable experience, please move on to the next review.
This is just my way of letting those who do want to spend some of their head space on employee treatment my thoughts.
I know what management is, this isn’t about an upset employee who didn’t like what the boss had to say, hold them accountable or is crying wolf
(bullying) because they got caught doing something wrong or gave bad service.
This is also nothing of serious criminal offence either. I’m only putting that out there so there aren’t horrible rumours that start and negatively affect the business and its employees.
But I am making this review to make the “one” manager/owner aware that they should be more mindful and insightful of how they manage their employees and understand what a huge responsibility it is when you hire young and green employees, the obligation to teaching them and protecting them. Yes you’re obligated.
I was in the restaurant business for 20 years, I’ve managed, was a cook and served as well in big restaurants like Eastsides and Kelsey’s. I moved on into dietary in healthcare after.
So I know what a responsibility it is to train and to help your team grow to be its best that it can be which in turn makes a restaurant the best it can be. You have a responsibility to your staff.. a big one and you need to be present and take advantage of teachable moments. That’s how you become a restaurant family, you build trust, teach and empower your employees which in turn brings success and renown to your business.
Because it shows if all you care about is the look and money.. a good restaurant goes way deeper than the surface rather than just turning a table.
I hope this advice finds management well, I hope moving forward that more attention is given to their employees.
You lose the greatest ones by rewarding the bad ones or by failing them completely due to pride and greed, they deserve respect just as much as you require it from them.
Your employees are members of the community that surround you. A small community I might add but is growing everyday.
Peace be with you this busy holiday and let’s remember what it means to be Canadian.
Merci Diane pour ton service hors paire. Tu as été très attentionnée à notre satisfaction. C'est certain que je vais revenir et recommander votre equipe et resto 😎
Nice staff - Good food
Ordered the chicken brochette. Chicken was dry and tasteless. Salad was inedible because the ingredients were old! Gross!
First time here and really enjoyed the pizza. Just a little too much cheese but very tasty. We had a large dressed as per their special on mondays (large pizza with 3 toppings) good bang for the buck. Servers were friendly and smiling. Nice cold beer too.
