Not from the area and we were passing through and needed somewhere to eat. Our first reaction was it smelled “off” but proceeded to give it a try. Our waitress had no expression or wasn’t friendly at all.
The food-horrible. I thought I’d play it safe and have the chicken tenders, it looked like a sponge on the inside. Did not eat it. Couldn’t. Sweet and sour sauce to go with it-tasted bad. Old.
The burgers the rest of the party ordered were a 2/10. Extremely thin back bacon, tomatoes and no lettuce. The side of gravy was maybe a tablespoon worth and no taste. No free fountain soda pop refills either. Window sills were dirty with crumbs, menus were sticky. You can. Ever judge a book by its cover and gave it a try, but would not recommend and will not go back.

Always a good breakfast here. Servers are quick and it's open nice and early to grab a bite before work.

When we’re road tripping, we always look for independent restaurants to visit along our route.
Roadhouse 23 checks all the boxes; simple decor, a menu that has something for everyone, food that’s reliable and homemade, and servers and patrons who all know each other’s names.
I’ll definitely visit again in the future!

Took my parents out for supper and my dad couldn't stop talking about a good experience he had like 25 years ago. Honestly the locals know how good this spot is. The curb appeal could use a little paint job but the food was really good and the price was insanely cheap for restaurant in 2025. Coleslaw was home made, in house battered fish was good, burger was massive and the egg sandwich was an amazing deal. Service was really good. 3 of us at for $50 which is amazing. Free coffee refills. Would recommend for a chill, quiet, economically good meal out. Will be returning for sure.

We often travel through Listowel and are always looking for a new place to try out.
Hot dog was way overcooked...hot dog bun was hard and dry,we ordered gravy for our fries...virtually none....my burger was good

Had a delicious mushroom and cheese omelet. Really lovely to support a local family restaurant

Food is good but prices are ridiculous. They wanted 5.95 for onions on my hot hamburger. I chose to tip instead. Next time I'll choose the onions instead.

Worst service ever, waitress was busy talking to a customer rather than seing if people wanted a top up, eggs sunny side up almost solid yolk, potatoes cold have been chips , overly done, will never come here again, giving it 1 star because I can't go minus on the stars,

Classic diner,
Good service great food! As we decided to sit at window seat someone was sent out side to clean the window with soap and water and squeegee! I had a chocolate milk shake that was super think and delicious! And a classic bacon and grill cheese sandwich, fries and coleslaw! Yum !
