Windows Restaurant at Rocky Crest

The server was pretty much alone, she was lovely, however. She put our drink order in and the bar never filled it, she went back 20-30 mins later and had to make them herself. I really few it was a lack of staff support that dulled our experience My son and husband's steaks were god, however my order of gnocchi's sauce was pasty, lump and congealed and my daughter's meatballs verse dry and lacking flavour. But her pasta and sauce were good.

Was staying at Rocky Crest Golf Resort on Hamer Bay, Lake Joseph in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada so decided to try Windows Restaurant for Dinner and Breakfast. Windows is operated by Clublink so you should expect friendly attentive service, average decor and above average food. This is how they deliver and they did it solidly again for both dinner and breakfast with the maitre’d/manager Holly overseeing. Our party of 4 was delighted with the view and we chose a delicious Valpolicella from the shorter but well chosen wine list. From the diverse menu with many options and steaks we chose our mains - the Chicken Gnocchi, Pork Wellington, Australian Ribeye and Lamb Chops. It came out quickly and everything was fantastic - each one could have been the signature dish. My Australian Ribeye was a perfect medium rare and I dipped it in the béarnaise. I can’t wait to go back to try the Lamb Chops and Gnocchi. On to dessert, we shared the Caramel Carrot Cheesecake and Maple Crème Brûlée. Check out the pics … Wow!

The breakfast buffet the next morning was well organized, tasteful and hot. Perfect for the start of a hot sunny cottage resort day.

Soup was ok. Steak..was huge but i wanted it medium rare and i got almost well done. I actually regret eating the whole thing.

There was only one waitress, who was lovely, but we waited forever! 1.5 hours to get a drink. The food was good but it's not great for kids as the menu is the exact same as the Bayside Patio. The food is quite pricey which is fine if you're getting exceptional service with it but you don't get that here.

Incredible meal all round for picky husbands and kids. Service was impeccable. Knowledgeable, service -oriented staff. Food was so fresh. Melt in your mouth pickerel, pasta, salads, nothing was too much to request. Chef was accommodating and talented. Sophie server was so gracious. We are coming back for round 2 tonight!!

The pickerel was bland as well as the Mac'n Cheese. The rib eye and the filet were flavorful and done to perfection. We loved sitting in the corner by the windows overlooking the lake. Sophie our waitress was superb!!!

I agree with other reviewers that the value of this meal was elusive. Our server was lovely and seemed to genuinely care that we have a good experience but I can't get beyond the fact that a $52 steak purporting to be a strip loin was tough, flavourless and about half an inch thick. It was on the level of passable airplane food and I suspect it was previously frozen. Nice view of the lake but the dining room itself was tired looking with no ambiance. Cheap polyester tablecloths, worn out furniture, bad carpeting. Save your money and get a burger somewhere else nearby.

Tiny portions. Inexperienced wait staff. Completely incorrect food brought to 3 of our party. Slow service with an empty dining room. An hour to get our food with 3 tables running.

Kudos to the staff at Rocky Crest, during our visit there was a loud and obnoxious corporate event in the dining room, the on shift staff made every attempt to make our evening enjoyable and apologized repeatedly for the group's behaviour. The next day the Rocky Crest manager contacted me and again apologized for the evenings noise levels; I regognize at this time of year that corporate events are the income for sites such as Rocky Crest but the staff went above expectations in ensuring our needs were met...THANK YOU!!! The service was very attentive and both of the meals were delicious with nice presentation' despite the issues that we encountered I would recommend this spot to anyone visiting in the area.

The service was slow. My husband ordered the beef dip and got a chicken wrap. We told the waitress but no compensation was offered. He ate the chicken wrap because he didn't want to wait for his initial order as it took a long time to get it. We got our food and had to wait for the server to bring us utensils. Poor service. The food was ok.

We brought our son and daughter in law for the first time. There were no bitters to make an Old Fashioned. We finally got our fourth choice of wine from the list and then we're told that there was only one bottle. Evan was a very attentive server. He was sorry that he could not fulfill our drink wishes. The food and presentation were good. We will come again and hope that we will have no negative comments.

Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It's a buffet style meal with a small set of options but a beautiful view while you eat. The food was fine and there was a decent selection, for a small buffet. Poached eggs, scrambled eggs, toast, bagels, pastries, sausage, bacon, waffles, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice. Would definitely go again!

Food at Windows was very good. Service extremely slow with only 2 severs for the dining room. For this style of dining and expected service, they need more staff in the kitchen and front of house and tables need more attention.
