Wasn’t Mysterious, Just Misleading BAIT AND SWITCH
I ordered the “Mystery Sushi Pack” from Bento Sushi expecting the advertised thrill of surprise rolls in a bento box. The menu promised a random assortment of the chef’s daily creations.
What I received was a monochrome vegetable parade: cucumber rolls, avocado rolls, pickled-daikon nigiri, and a few limp strips of kampyo. Zero fish, zero surprise, zero satisfaction.
The second mystery pack was a crunch pack ($15) of unknown origin discounted from $19.00.
When I asked the staff (lady) why an ostensibly sushi mystery box contained no actual seafood, the counter person shrugged and said, “We decided fish wasn’t right for you today.”
No allergy mentioned, no prior preference stated—just an unsolicited editorial decision. I pressed: “The menu says ‘mystery,’ not ‘vegan.’” The response? A curt, “We ran out of fish,” followed by an eye-roll when I pointed out the full salmon maki display two feet away. All with the same expiration date.
Argumentative service is an understatement. Instead of owning the bait-and-switch, the staff doubled down, insisting vegetables are sushi and that I was “being difficult.” I paid premium mystery-box pricing ($15) for what amounts to a $10 veggie platter with an attitude.
Verdict: If you want a true mystery, try guessing why anyone would deliberately sabotage their own product and then lecture the customer about it. Skip this one unless your idea of adventure is debating the definition of sushi with someone who’s already made up their mind.

This is not bento sushi lol ? I’ve been to several and this is just not it. It’s like sushi from any grocery store selling sushi. I guess it’s the name…. Went in and was so disappointed. Cold products only…. Nothing warm. I wish I read the description of this particular location before driving over. It should at BENTO SUSHI FRIDGE ONLY lol I swear I saw the name alone and got excited. It was enough to get me to drive over

got some from sobeys. it tastes good for the price
Got A California roll from my local shoprite. It was horrible couldn't even finish it. Rice is hard, the seaweed wrap is mushy, the avocado is hard and brown at the same time. The crab is chopped with something mixed with it. Im really more mad that shoprite would take away their fresh prep for this chemically filled product. sushi is suppose to be fresh and clean you can't imitate that. But Bento never again.
