Churrasqueira Red Rooster Portuguese BBQ- bathurst

This was my first time having Portuguese BBQ. It was a delicious meal. It tastes home cooked with fresh ingredients. The staff here are amazing. They brought the food and drinks to our table once it was ready. They did check up on us, like the big chain restaurants normally do. I did try a small chicken pastry and I ended up taking one home for my wife too. Parking is a bit tight as it shares a parking lot with the medical clinic.

The chicken slices combo was fine but the potatoes were not seasoned like many other Portuguese restaurants offering peri peri potatoes. The ambience was good. What took me by surprise was they charged us extra for hot sauce without informing us. Places like Nandos freely let's you try their various types of sauces. If it's an extra charge for a small portion of hot sauce it should have been told to me at the time of ordering and not come as a surprise at the time of payment.

Food is OK. Chicken was a little dry. Potatoes were good and rice was bland. They’re very stingy on the portions though. Considering they cost 30% more than any other similar place around. The price is just way high for the food. It’s not like it’s higher quality or anything. The food is just OK but the prices are outrageous. If you don’t mind paying more for decent quality food, then go ahead but otherwise skip this place. Also notice the portions are very stingy

It is definitely the best Portuguese restaurant within a few kilometre radius. The chicken is always moist. Flavour is consistent and their sauces are very, very good. I recommend their other dishes on the menu with a fairly decent salad and some other schnitzel options. This is our families's regular go to place while we're in the mood for Portuguese.

Have not been in this area for years. Decided to stop by for lunch. Not much of a lunch menu so just had a full size dinner combo 1/2 chicken, rice and salad and side of hot piri piri sauce. Chicken was good and and well seasoned

Used to go to the other major mack location religiously! Started using this one for ease of parking. Had a horrible experience last year but I thought I’d give them another chance today. They’ve nearly doubled their prices to start. I called in a pickup order, family pack, sauce, not included and very expensive, and a salad on the side because it’s not included either. We walked in and got hit in the face with a horrible odour. Bathroom mixed with old fish smell. I had to comment because my toddlers made pretty big immediate and obvious reactions lol. The employees there are extremely defensive and not at all apologetic. Pretending it wasn’t true and in denial. Ok fine. Also, silly thing but the bags are impossible to carry and all their containers leak oil so be careful! I’m sure they could spring for a handle on the paper bags at least. U-Line has them for a great price in bulk! The rice and potatoes were fine but the chicken was dry, not terrible. Lastly, the salad came with no dressing and I called just to let them know and she says (no apology) I can come back to get one.. I’m not driving back in rush hour for dressing lol so she said that she could take my name and number and leave a note that I could get free dressing the next time I come. 😂 what? What would I do with a free dressing? And if I buy another salad, it comes with it! It’s just comical at this point.
I see the other reviews and notice that they always say they’ll bring up the issues but seems like it just disappears into the abyss while things get worse so I just won’t be going back there. What an unnecessary awful experience. Anyone want a free salad dressing? 😂

Should have read the reviews before ordering. The chicken was so dry we couldn’t even swallow it. There were sections of our whole chicken that were rock solid! Also ridiculous to not give a dipping sauce when ordering a whole chicken and having to pay $5+ for a medium dip. Very disappointing and would not recommend this restaurant.

We placed take out orders and were surprised to find no cutlery and tissue 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. I was forced to eat my salad with my hands... we will not be returning to this establishment. 😣 👎👎

Disappointing

Did a large takeout order. Chicken was fantastic. Cooked to perfection. Rice and potatoes excellent.

Classic spot for some Portuguese chicken that will always be delicious for the whole family! Always consistent with their flavours.
