What a charming place. The inside is so spacious with its high ceilings and open concept. We were warmly greeted and brought to our high top table near the back. The place is warmly decorated with a mish mash of antiques and local art scapes. Our server was bubbly and very nice. She went over the specials eagerly and was a joy to have take care of us.
My wife's cappuccino was delicious. Their coffee had strong chocolate notes that were delightful. My espresso arrived tepid which was a shame. Our water jug was well replenished which I always appreciate.
To share, we ordered the Spicy Chicken Bites, Marilynne Salad, and Eggs Benedict. Salad was fresh, well dressed, generous with feature ingredients, and a good portion. Chicken was juicy and super crispy. Buttermilk dressing and hot sauce went very well with it. Always a fan of scallion garnish too.
Not wanting too much meat, we subbed out the pulled pork in favour of the sautéed mushrooms for our Benedict and what a great move! Juicy and chunky creminis with buttery beech they were cooked perfectly. The eggs were a warm soft poach nestled under a flawless hollandaise. The english muffin could've been bigger, but the crispy fries that came with it did the trick!
This was such a lovely brunch to have with my wife on her birthday weekend away from the city. Marilynne in Markdale was great ending to our wonderful retreat.

I have been here three times now and planning on bringing my family tomorrow. Only good things to say about the place. From the top down you can tell they care. It shows in the food, staff and atmosphere. Can't wait to come back.

Marilynne's recently catered our wedding at a private residence close-by and did an incredible job.
Larry was great to work with leading up to the event as we customized the menu, coordinated logistics and was very accommodating to our requests.
The day-of the event Brandon and his team were 11/10. The food was even better than I had anticipated given that they were cooking and assembling in our barn basement. They staffed our cocktail hour set-up as well including a charcuterie station and the bar. We received a lot of positive feedback from our guests.
Thanks to all involved and I highly recommend them if you're considering catering for your event!

We happened across this on our travels. The staff were delightful and the atmosphere was ‘buzzing’. Check ahead as you might need to book a table. Good range of local beers too.

The host staff is incredibly rude, specifically the employee with purple hair.

Rude rude rude. Never felt so unwelcome by a front of house staff. This is not a place for hospitality.

I LOVE Marilynne. It is always a very solid experience. Everything is good - the salads, the seasonal specials, the burger and the chicken sandwich. Brandon is always there working hard and making sure people are enjoying themselves.

Food and atmosphere were amazing, however, customer service was not.
1. Their online booking system did not allow us to mention our 10 month old baby as part of the reservation/could not request for a high chair, so we had eat with our baby on our lap at a bar table, and they did not offer other options.
2. My husband did not want fries as a side, and wanted something else. Server suggested she could swap it with their roasted beet salad, but she failed to let us know that it would have been a completely separate order ($16); we only saw it on the bill at the end. When we mentioned it to her, she said she would remove it, then another server came and said they won’t remove it because it had beets and goat cheese… we just paid and left.
We were really looking forward to trying it out, but the lack of customer service really spoiled it for us.

First time being here and recommend. We had the French onion soup and the Sunday Roast. (Sunday roast only available on Sundays)
The French onion soup was good but very rich. Was good to split between 2 people as just eating it by yourself would have got abit much on the rich side. Was a little surprised at the price of $19.00 for the amount.
The Sunday roast meal was delicious!! Lots of flavours. Would get this dish again for sure.
Loved the vintage vibe of the place!
Phenomenal customer service and a super tasty BLT on special

The mushroom toast looked fabulous, but it was honestly way too oily for me—the bread was completely soaked and the mushrooms were coated in oil. The first couple of bites were nice, with the crisp bread, grated cheese, and the rich, earthy flavor of wild mushrooms, but after that it became too heavy to finish.
The Philly cheesesteak was very flavorful, and the meat was tender and easy to bite through. Still, it was also on the slightly oily side—a tasty comfort food, but quite rich. The fries were also just a little bit too salty.
My favorite dish was definitely the Caesar salad. It had a great variety of fresh vegetables, and the croutons tasted like they were made in house —super crispy and falls apart right when you bit into it, the texture I haven’t found elsewhere. The salad as a whole was incredibly well-balanced: refreshing greens paired perfectly with the creamy Caesar dressing, making it flavorful but not overwhelming. Truly delicious!
I also tried the heirloom tomatoes salad from the daily specials. The tomatoes themselves were excellent and fresh, simply prepared without overcomplicating them. However, I did feel the price was a bit on the high end, and server didn’t mention, which I think the restaurant should make clearer when ordering.
The restaurant’s ambiance is beautiful, with an elegant British-inspired touch. If you’re in the area, this is definitely a refined spot worth considering.
