Good experience
Unable to critique the B& B; however our experience at the restaurant was good. I ordered the Terriky Chicken (senior's meal) while my husband had Chicken Slovakia. The service was good - the meals were hot and tasty, the server courteous and attentive. We will return and certainly recommend to others.

If ZERO was possible, or a negative number, that's how I would rate this formerly beautiful Victorian Inn.
We arrive at the Inn at approximately 6 pm, relieved that we would have time to freshen up and get to the restaurant at the Inn before closing at 8pm.
There is no one at the reception desk but a waitress comes over to tell us that there’s a number posted somewhere that we could call to get someone. While on the phone, a gentleman appears. He clearly doesn’t know what he’s supposed to do but together we find a paper with my name on it. He hands me Key 4.
Up 1.5 flights of stairs, key in the door, a young man (owner’s son) pops out of room 3 across the hall and says, ‘oh wait, so sorry but my dad’s friend is staying in there, but I will get you the key for Room 5 which is the same kind of room’. We say ‘okay??’ At this point, I just want to take my shoes off and relax.
Room 5 – first stop is the bathroom, only to find dried toothpaste/water spit covering a third of the mirror. So, we take a better look at the room. Carpet has obviously not been vacuumed and there’s a large stain. My husband goes to sit in the rocking chair, and the arm is broken, rendering it unsafe. I try to turn the light on over the bed and it does not work. I see a random hanger hanging on the 4-poster bed, so I attempt to catch the pull chain for the fan/light. It still does not work. We discover that the bedside lamp has no lightbulb in it either. The window is not completely shut but a towel has been shoved in the opening. The armoire is missing a handle. So off I go to Room 3 apologetically saying sorry to bother you, but could you come take a look at the room. He takes a look and apologizes saying that he understands our concerns, but he has just returned from school and doesn’t know what’s going on but could he call his dad? I speak with the owner explaining that the room doesn’t appear to have been cleaned between guests, he graciously offers us an upgrade to the Honeymoon Suite, but I asked him if it’s been cleaned, he assures me that he did it himself.
Room 1 – The Honeymoon Suite – great expectations
First thing I see is a lovely clawfoot tub in the main part of the room and it has a dead bug in it. I peek in the bathroom to find a live bug swimming in the toilet. Bugs outside have been dead for a while, so these are living and breeding inside.
We’re done, down the stairs, suitcases in hand and out the door. The owner has arrived and follows us outside somehow shocked that we won’t be staying.
We come home on Monday to find that the room was charged on our credit card the day I booked it, which is unusual. So, I call saying that he knows we didn’t stay and he knows why. He keeps telling me that he upgraded us (to an unclean room), he’s a small business and there’s no refunds (news to me). He somehow thinks that it’s okay to take my $213.57 without providing me anything other than a horrendous experience. I told him to do the right thing and process the refund, I gave him 24 hours to do that, and it hasn’t happened. He just doesn’t care.
He is ruining what was once a wonderful place to stay.
**What I have learned recently is that the Inn changed hands in
2021 and is currently for sale. This owner is riding the fabulous reviews of the previous owner. I didn't check the reviews prior to booking as we had stayed before. The filth/bugs seems to be a common complaint as well as the absolute disregard by the owner towards customers. He did offer a free future stay, but why the hell would I ever do that? We are currently working on a credit card dispute in order to get a full refund.

Pls pls do not even give this establishment a penny . It was one of the out most disgusting 🤢 places ever . You are better to sleep in your car before coming into this place and there are cameras everywhere , someone follows from a distance
The place was very poorly managed , filthy dirty , electrical extensions everywhere ,beds are extremely uncomfortable . Bathroom very dirty mold everywhere in shower, not clean .
I did not close an eye while I was there . Only because I was on my bike and late at night cause I would have never stayed there . Honestly I cannot even understand how this place is allowed to operate in such circumstances
Front door wide open and unlocked all night ,anyone can just walk in .
I can’t even give it one star ⭐️
Let’s hope he cleans up or closes cause it’s dishonest to have customers pay this price 165$ plus tx

DO NOT STAY HERE, THEY HAVE BUGS. IT IS NOT CLEAN.
My daughter and I checked in at 5 pm. We were visiting family there so we left. We came back at 9:30 pm with dinner then we went to the pool. I couldn't get in because it was freezing, my daughter said it reminded her of mountain water it was so cold. She managed to get in for 10 minutes then she couldn't stand the water anymore. The hot tub part of the pool didn't work either. We went to our room which was up 3 flights of stairs and was in the attic of the old house. I looked over at the pillows and the pillow cases were not white like they should be. I flipped one of them over and it had mold spots on the corner of the pillow case. I lifted the covers and there was black fleece of something on the white sheets. In the middle of the bed there were 2 spots about the size of a cell phone. I don't know if it was stained or if it wasn't washed. There were some ceases in the sheets so I wasn't sure. I was wondering about the black flecks of stuff on the sheets so I started shaking the comforter and there was more of the flecks falling on the sheets. I lifted the mattress and found more black flecks, there was a small clear bug it was hard to tell what it was. Then I found a black bug. That was enough inspect for me I knew my daughter and I were not sleeping there. It was 11 pm and no one was at the desk so I called the phone number that was there. I told him that we couldn't sleep here because of everything I found especially the bugs. He said there are no bugs. I said I would take him upstairs and show him. He said I have another room that my daughter and I can stay in. He didn't let me show him the room we were in the first time. He took me to the second floor and showed me the room. I pulled the covers down and there were black flecks again, human hair and another spot on the sheet. I said sorry we are leaving this bed is dirty too. I didn't even check between the mattresses I just wanted to get out of this place. I don't think this family understands what clean is or the standards that Canadians expect. So we left. I called booking.com for a refund, they told me they had to wait until morning since it's not a 24 hour desk there. I looked for another hotel. I talked to one motel and told them the situation and why I needed a room so late. They told me that they heard this place had bugs. I am so happy we didn't stay as soon as he told me that. I finally found one in Belleville 35 minutes away. When we got there it was 1 am. I called booking.com in the morning and they still haven't heard from the owner of the house. I called the owner myself and he said he is not giving me my money back. He said that I checked in and used the amenities. I argued with him because we were only in the hotel for an hour. He told me we used the pool. I told him I couldn't swim in it and my 14 year old daughter only could barely bear it for 10 minutes. So I asked for half my money back, I thought I would offer this since yes we did check in. He said no. No I have a complaint with booking.com to go to a higher level. I didn't get pictures, I just wanted to get out of the room and didn't think about that at the time. I know I should have taken pictures because obviously this owner is going to keep saying he doesn't have bugs and they always wash the sheets. Don't stay here, I have stayed in many motels and some were sketchy but I have never had to leave one before.

Do NOT stay here. We booked the “holiday home” room for a long weekend getaway with two young children and have never encountered a place that is so filthy. Please see attached pictures. There was chicken in the sink, filthy cupboards and oven, stains on the sheets, marks all over the walls, and check out the advertised “garden view”. I booked this place for the private kitchen, indoor pool and in house dining. I didn’t touch the kitchen, use the pool or eat in their dining room due to their complete lack of basic cleanliness. We were able to see through the window into the kitchen and there was mold all over the top of one of the freezers. I was honestly worried we would get sick. The man at the front desk actually told me he disagreed with that I was saying and believed the room was clean and told bookings.com (who I booked through and are refusing a refund) that the room was spotless. He offered to come “give the floor another mop” and he changed the sheets (which also had stains on them). Absolutely disgusting. This place needs to be shut down.

Again, do NOT stay here and don’t book through bookings.com as apparently this is also acceptable to them.

As for the reply below, the photos speak for themselves. It’s truly shocking that this establishment believes this to be acceptable and meet basic cleanliness standards. I stand by everything I wrote. Am I disappointed about not receiving a refund, of course. This is more about warning others not to spend your hard earned money on this filthy place, especially if you have children.

Worst hotel experience ever.
We booked the 4 bedroom penthouse apartment, but the place changed it to a three bedrooms with shared corridor and bathroom

Well...looking at the very rustic and old fashioned interior in the dining room, felt like I was at my grandmother's house in the early 90s, then the food came out and it was absolutely delicious. The smash burger I had teleported me to the modern day and out of my 90s grandmother's house. Delicious, the soup side was so flavourful and not made from a can. The smash burger was great! Seasoned and full of flavor, I felt I was at a pub that specializes in smash burgers. I recommend this dinner for all visitors. Service was quick, lacking on the wine menu but the food was worth it. I would come back and order the same smash burger. Though they should offer a salad with the burger instead of soup. Salad is inexpensive to an owner compared to fries or soup only as a side.

This place oozes antique charm, but towels and sheets could use a refresh. Despite the late-night reservation hassle, the owner rolled with it. A clean-up boost would push it over the top.

The house is amazing, reminded me of my childhood home. Excellent service from the greeting to the restaurant. The food was excellent, I had Greek themed meals as it was the special. Very quiet area too.
