Best chinese in Milton! My family has been getting take out from GC for close to 40 years. Since moving out of town I miss it and make a point to have it when I visit my parents. 3 stars for atomosphere just because they don't offer in restaurant dining anymore, and it's understandable.

BAD EXPERIENCE
Since our children moved to Milton some 23 years ago, We have ordered at Gold City many times and occasionally ate in, which is no longer an option. Usually I would call and they would tell me approximately what time our order would be ready. Food was always HOT and tasty. This time on May 23rd., I called at 4:00 P.M. and asked our order to be ready at 5:30. I arrived exactly on time and picked up our order. Not a small order, but close to $ 100.00 with taxes after a 10% discount for paying cash. This was not a good idea. Some of the dishes can not withstand sitting too long on the counter waiting for pick up. To start, Most of the food was warm as if it was prepared ahead of time. Example, the beef and snowpeas was just warm and the peapods were soggy and wet, certainly not the crispy manner they should be eaten. The chicken soo guy was also just warm and a heavy breading that some pieces were hard and not edible. Chicken fried rice was hold the chicken., also warm. The breaded shrimps were cooked ok, except they were somewhat whitish in colour instead of a nice golden brown. The honey garlic spare ribs were good as well as the fried won ton. The cantonese chow mein was just warm but tasty. After so many years of doing business with this restaurant, I am sorry to say that this was the very last time I would order there. Advice to anyone placing and order, call just before picking up so that you will know that your meal will be hot and tasty. Sorry Gold City!!!!!!

Ridiculously Over-Priced: Pre-Covid, my usual order cost $21.00. In August, that went up to $31.00. I got the exact same order this week, and now it costs $38.00. They're taking advantage of 'covid pricing' pure and simple. I'll get my take-out someplace else, thanks.

I’ve been in Milton 15+ years. I’ve been going to this place as long as that. However, in the last 2 years I’ve noticed its been flying DOWNHILL! The person who answers the phone doesn’t annunciate his words and speaks so fast, which makes ordering food a NIGHTMARE.Once you get the food, you can GUARANTEE that SOMETHING WILL BE MISSING OR they have given you an alternative…you DIDNT WANT.Then there is the most important part…the LACK OF TASTE! I mean really, the most basic thing; the Sweet and Sour chicken balls were STALE and they forgot the sauce, Chicken Chow Mein tasted like NOTHING and has 8 little pieces of chicken, the coating on the shrimp was like play dough, the egg rolls (how can you possibly mess THAT up) had a weird sour aftertaste and it goes on! All that garbage for $80+ dollars ?. I’ve eaten better Chinese food at a MALL!YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED…DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Ordered food for 6 people for dinner at our house. they missed one order, which they did offer to replace, but our dinner was finished. The food was not good at all. Stale and over cooked. Breaded items were soggy and had very little taste overall. I was embarrassed to serve the food to my guests. Nobody finished their dinner. When I called them they said sorry and hung up.There is no dine in, the front is just a storage area. I have lived in Milton a long time and this place has gone down hill last few years.

I've been in Milton since 1983, and this is my go to Chinese take out. Food is consistent. For the past few decades I always know what to expect. I own J&D Tire and like us they have been long standing Milton business owners I love to support!!
We have been to this restaurant a few times to eat in and on many occasions picked up our order. On this day we ordered. It was about 4:30 when we ordered and mentioned that we will pick up at 5:15. It seems since Covid, they only do delivery or pick up. When I walked in the first thing you saw was piles of ingredients, boxes and assorted stuff lying around the restaurant. Not very appetizing. We asked for our order and was told that it was being packed up. I paid for the order and about 6 minutes later they handed me a bag with my order. I questioned the price as I checked all the prices before I picked up and they asked for about $7.00 more then I had figured and I questioned them about it. They mentioned that the prices have gone up. When I got into the car I added up the bill which they gave me and they were wrong in the addition of about $7.00. I went in and told them that there was an error and he quickly did the addition and returned the difference to me saying he was sorry. They offer a 10% discount when paying cash which was about the amount of the error. It also could have been one item of $ 7.50 was added twice. Whatever. When I brought the food home and unpacked the 8 dishes and tasted the food, it was not hot and had to be warmed up. Seeing that we had told them of the time we would pickup, it seems that this food was prepared in advanced. This is the first time it has happened but paying almost $ 100.00 for the food and it is not hot to start with is not very appealing especially for us and the friends we brought the food for. I would also recommend that when paying you should check the addition. Most people just hear the amount and pay. Beware!!!!!
