Avoid this location if you expect even basic service or honesty.
We visited Sunset Grill Milton (Maple Ave) and it was, without exaggeration, one of the worst and most concerning dining experiences we’ve had.
After being seated, we were ignored for over 10 minutes and had to ask if we even had a server. No apology, and we were told to grab our own menus.
When the server finally came over, we explained we had young kids and were ready to order. We specifically asked about gluten-free options — she nodded and confirmed, but then tried to rush through and kept cutting us off mid-order.
Before our food even arrived, she carelessly tossed the cutlery onto the table.
Once the food arrived, within a few bites it was clear the dish contained gluten. My husband went to speak directly with the server and chef, and they both insisted it was “fine.” As he walked away, they spoke to each other and it became obvious they had just lied.
I was watching the entire interaction. The moment they realized they’d been caught, both of them scrambled to the back.
Only then did the server return with the packaging — which clearly listed wheat — and instead of taking accountability, she handed it to us and made us read the ingredients ourselves, saying she “didn’t know what it was.”
***Let that sink in: they gave incorrect information about a dietary restriction, doubled down on it, lied about it, and only corrected themselves once they realized they’d been seen.
This isn’t just bad service… it’s negligent and potentially dangerous.
The entire experience was absolute chaos. Poorly managed, completely untrained, and operating with zero standards.

They have failed to open on time, I was a faithful regular breakfast customer early
Okay, here’s my honest take on Sunset Grill.
We came around 11:30am on a Monday and it wasn’t busy at all, which made the experience really relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was calm, cozy, and perfect for a mother daughter breakfast.
Food wise, it was a bit of a mixed experience. My eggs were a little wet and pretty bland, the turkey bacon was just okay, and the French toast was missing that cinnamon flavour I was hoping for. It wasn’t horrible, just not as flavourful as I expected.
What really stood out was the service. We did have a small mishap where there was hair in the food, but it was handled extremely well. The staff were apologetic, kind, and immediately remade everything promptly and with genuine care. We were treated with consideration and respect, and that truly made a difference.
Prices were fair, the service was amazing, and the way the situation was handled showed real professionalism. While the food wasn’t exactly great this time, the overall experience was still positive because of how attentive and thoughtful the staff were. I would be open to giving it another try.
If you want this to sound even more casual, more upbeat, or slightly more forgiving for a higher star rating, I can adjust the tone in seconds.

We visited Sunset Grill on Maple for brunch with some friends. The staff are lovely, especially our waitress Audrie who was kind and helpful with our large group. The food was delicious too!

I had an unfortunate experience today at Sunset Grill Milton, a place I used to visit often because of the quality of its food. Today was a disaster.
It started with an orange juice. I specifically asked whether it was freshly squeezed or from a carton, and I was told it was fresh. However, I received a carton juice with a strong chemical taste. The waitress argued that the taste was because it wasn’t freshly squeezed.
Then I ordered Eggs Benedict (a dish I always order). Instead, I received fried eggs over ham. It was missing the signature sauce that defines the dish, and the eggs were not poached just fried.
The pancakes were dry, with no fluffiness or flavor.
The Monte Cristo sandwich arrived without the traditional powdered sugar or honey, just the French toast slices with ham in the middle.
Honestly, for an experience like this, I would have preferred to cook at home.
It’s very disappointing to see a restaurant so well known for its delicious breakfasts drop in quality this way
