I want to share my experience with Sweet Alice Confections so others know what to expect before booking.
First, I reached out to discuss booking a party. I gave her the date but didn’t yet have the number of people confirmed. I paid the deposit, and she told me she would touch base closer to the date to confirm numbers, and that the full total was to be paid a week before the workshop. No one ever followed up.
The Monday before the event, because I had not heard anything, I reached out to ask about changing the date. She replied saying “no problem, which date,” but reminded me the deposit was non-refundable—which didn’t matter to me, because I just wanted to reschedule, not cancel. She then told me I would need to send another $50 deposit for the new date. I simply asked whether both deposits would be applied toward the final cost of the workshop.
That’s when the tone completely changed. She said I didn’t value her time and claimed she had lost a lot more than the $50 deposit. That accusation was completely untrue and frankly an awful thing to say. I had approached the situation respectfully, simply trying to make new arrangements, and would have accepted a polite “we’re unable to reschedule” without issue. Instead, the response came across as defensive and hostile.
She went on to say she had rearranged her children’s and work schedule for my original booking—something I never asked her to do—and even told me that customers like me are the reason she’s considering raising her booking fee.
The travel fee was another concern. When the party was originally set for Toronto, I understood the fee. But when I changed the location to Acton, just 20 minutes away, I was surprised to see the fee still applied. At that point, it didn’t feel like a standard policy—it felt like retaliation for rescheduling.
I’ve supported this business before, made purchases, referred others, and was genuinely looking forward to this event. But the tone, accusations, and overall handling of the situation completely changed my opinion. Policies are one thing, but professionalism, courtesy, and truthful communication matter just as much—and those were missing here. I won’t be booking again.

Sweet Alice confections is the place for your occasion. I ordered cupcakes for my daughter‘s first birthday. The theme of my birthday party was Alice in Wonderland and it couldn’t have turned out better. Not only were the cupcakes delicious but the piece of art that was created with the colours and tones to match the theme was outstanding! The cupcakes were a huge hit at the party amongst all of our guests. I couldn’t have been happier with the turnout.
