I order from this spot when craving authentic Sri Lankan food, and it always hits the spot.

They even do catering! They've done a couple of events, including my wedding! People raved about the food, especially the chicken biryani, mutton curry, eggplant, and the apps, including muttin rolls and chicken patties.

They reduced the fried rice quantity and were not worth the cost. It will not be sufficient for 1 good eater. Before they used to give a good quantity and when enquired they said the owner asked to reduce the quantity. Then the owner should also reduce the price.

It's unbelievable they do not accept Credit cards in this day and age.
I understand if it's a small amount for cash or debit but for a $40 purchase they most definitely have to have the credit card machine.
Will never come over again!!!

Bituvanthanam has quickly become our go-to spot for authentic South Indian Tamil Sri Lankan takeout. Their dosas, idlis, and especially the crispy vadas are absolutely delicious. The vadas have that perfect balance of crunch and lightness, while the dosas are consistently well-prepared with a golden, crispy edge. We’ve found ourselves enjoying vadas and chai in the parking lot several times after picking up our order, and it’s become a bit of a tradition.

The service here is great—quick, efficient, and always friendly. On our first visit, we arrived just around closing time, and despite being late, the uncle at the counter generously gave us a complimentary pack of four vadas. It was such a kind gesture and really made a lasting impression on us. Moments like these add a special touch to the experience and keep us coming back.

When it comes to the food, we’re big fans of their dosas, idlis, and vadas, which are all flavorful and freshly made. However, the biryanis didn’t quite reach the same level. The mutton biryani was a bit on the chewy side, and the chicken version felt a little dry. While they were still decent, they didn’t quite match the high quality of the other dishes we’ve enjoyed here.

As it’s a takeout-only spot, you don’t have to wait long—expect to spend about 10-15 minutes for your order, which is great if you're on the go. Overall, Bituvanthanam is a fantastic place for authentic South Indian snacks, and we’ll definitely be back for more dosas and vadas, even if we skip the biryani next time.

I purchased four packs of chicken kottu roti, which were advertised as boneless. However, while eating, I encountered several tiny bones and even ended up chipping a tooth. The taste was disappointing as well—the spices seemed undercooked, making the flavor far from authentic. This was the worst kottu I’ve ever had.

When I called to inform them, the lady on the phone insisted that the dish was boneless, despite the evidence I have in a photo. I’m likely going to have to throw out the rest of the batch. I strongly recommend saving your money and avoiding this place.

I recently visited a takeout place in Mississauga and had a thoroughly disappointing experience. I ordered medu vada and string hoppers, but the customer service was extremely poor.

The staff was unresponsive and seemed disinterested in helping customers. When I finally got my order, the quality of the food was unacceptable. The medu vada was stale and cold, and the string hoppers were dry and overcooked. When I politely approached the store person to inform them about the stale and cold medu vada, she refused to accept the feedback. Instead, she offered to warm it up in a microwave and outrightly stated she would not take back or return the item. This is one of the most ridiculous responses I have ever received from any store in Toronto.

Such behavior is unacceptable on any basis. My request was genuine, but the response was the poorest I could have ever expected.

Moreover, this place is overpriced compared to other similar stores in the area. High prices do not always equate to good quality food, and this was a clear example. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for decent food or good customer service.

Last Saturday, I ordered one Chicken Kothu and one Chicken Biryani, both of which were very bad. This kind of preparation ruins the natural taste of Biryani and Kothu. If you don't know how to make good Biryani and Kothu, please outsource them, like you do with the String Hopper that you bring from elsewhere.

Never order again Biryani from this store.

This is to appreciate the owner of the store, it’s unbelievable true ?
I was there 3 months ago to buy some South Indian food ( idli vadas) which are always fresh and very reasonably priced. When I left in the car I noticed that my gold chain was hanging and pendant is gone. I came back to the store thinking that I may have lost there. I searched everywhere did not find. I asked the owner in case if you see my gold pendant with the description, kindly let me know.
After about 3 months from that incident, I was there yesterday to buy something ( I did not even remember that incident) , the lady on the counter not only recognized me but told me that one Sri Lankan customer found it outside and has bought it in.
I have no words to THANK all of them . People like them still do exist in this world. That pendant was very special to me as it was gifted by someone and I pray with it. It has the symbol OM ?️.
I will pray to the almighty that their business get extra extra profit this year. ?

THANK YOU ?
God bless this store

We randomly stumbled upon this small takeaway spot and decided to try their chai. The masala chai was amazing—definitely one of the best in Toronto. We also tried their medu vada and onion pakoda. The taste was okay, but they were too oily for my liking. I will definitely visit this place again for their amazing chai.

This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to, and I think these guys should be banned from selling days-old short eats, Vadai, etc. What a shame.
