I ordered a party tray of fried rice and chowmein from other places in the past. The tray i ordered from Kalypso Hut by far is the best in terms of food quality, portions size ans price. I would highly reccomend!

Walked in to eat. Place looked closed at 1pm. Looked like a decent lunch special advertised in the bar area. So I ordered that and was told it was only for takeout. Not sure why you advertise a take out special inside the store. Anyway I got two thinking they were just small portions and took them out. Realized afterwards they were full orders. The noodles were quite good and the rice dish was ok too. Odd spot but the food was good

I ordered 3 chicken fried rice from Kalypso Hut, but the experience was disappointing. The chicken pieces inside were small, cut-up bits, and the quantity was very limited. For the price, it didn’t feel worth it at all. The taste was average, and overall, it wasn’t a good experience. I expected better portion size and quality.

For my daughter's 40th surprise birthday party on August 9, 2025: The staff was amazingly accommodating, professional, pleasant and like family as well. The DJ fits right in with the right music at the right time!!!. Also plays one's request. We all enjoyed the food, atmosphere and cocktails. Thank you Calypso Hut for your undivided attention. An Evening well spent. I will definitely refer. See you in future.

spent $35 here on pepper shrimp and fried rice, and it was a huge letdown. The pepper shrimp cost $16 for only 8 small pieces — absolutely not worth the price. The fried rice was actually very good, but the shrimp was not it by a long shot.
I’ve been going to their other location for many years and always enjoyed it, so I decided to give this one a try. Big mistake — incredibly disappointed

Absolutely amazing place.Best guyanese fried rice i've ever had. Chicken wings were cooked in fresh oil. The waitress was so friendly.I seriously thought she was trying to adopt me. Well, go back here again and again and again and again.And again and again and again and again

I've went to various guyanese/chinese restaurants all over toronto including the other calypso huts, I usually come to this restaurant for the events which are usually good but unfortunately the food isn't the greatest dining in, the fried rice tastes burnt and the chicken isnt your typical guyanese/Chinese chicken as its has a heavy ketchup taste making it are to taste the bqq and theres more sauce then chicken aswell as the portion size it unbelievable, the serving can only feed like 1 and half people. I don't really recommend the bangamary as it has a very fishy/sea taste and mostly covered in batter. And after reviewing other people's reviews I think portion wise you get more taking out then dining in. The service also usually takes some time before getting the menu and even after. The wait for the food usually takes longer then usual which is surprising because the small portions. Unfortunately I have for cons then pros but one thing I can say is that the environment is usually really nice when theres free events! I understand this is the original kalypso hut which has bin around for YEARS! I get the capture of the old schoolness but respectly certain things should be updated such as the plates. I know the other locations are Calypso hut with a C and not a K but if you visit ANY of there locations and then come to this location you see the dramatic difference! All my comments are said in a respectful manner I just hope they take the consumers reviews into consideration to make the place better!
