Michael's Back Door Restaurant

My husband and I dined at Michael’s Back Door Restaurant this past Saturday. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted by Anthony, one of the Managers. It was fully packed so I’m glad we had a reservation. Anthony set a table for us in front of the bar. It was nice, semi private and intimate, and it felt like we were at a vip table. It was a pleasure to chat with Anthony, who was also attending the bar. He is very welcoming, flattering and hospitable.

Anthony made us a couple martinis to start, I especially enjoyed the sour apple martini. Next came the spicy Tiger shrimp appetizer, and Caesar and Mixed green salads. And for our mains, we chose the Linguine frutti di mare with side rapini and the Fegato. We ordered a red and white wine which paired well with our dishes. The food is always fresh, cooked to perfection and simply delicious. We ended the meal with lemon sorbet, tea and cappuccino.

Our server, Sheela did a great job. She was very nice, courteous and attentive. I also want to make a quick mention of another server, Kevin, (who has served us in past visits) who cleared plates off our table, even though he was not our server that night. He is also very friendly and quite sociable whenever we get him talking. It’s nice to see the servers work together as a team, and help each other out.

Overall, Michael’s Back Door is one of our favourite fine dining restaurants in Mississauga.
The food, service and atmosphere is always exceptional. We have been coming here for the past 8 years, and we look forward to coming back soon for another delicious meal.

We held our daughter’s confirmation at Michael’s Back door. Both Anthony & Michael were very responsive from my initial inquiry and any follow ups. Kevin our server was attentive and kind. The food was amazing and so was the service. I would most definitely recommend Michael’s back door for your next family event!

I absolutely love Michael's Back Door—it's hands down one of our favourite Italian restaurants, and I like to think of it as a "best kept secret" tucked away in the charming Clarkson neighbourhood of Mississauga. When it came time to plan my Mom’s 60th birthday, choosing this restaurant was an easy decision.

From the very start, Michael and Anthony made the entire event planning process a breeze. They were responsive and accommodating, whether it was through email communication about the set menu, managing attendee changes, or handling dietary restrictions. They even went above and beyond by letting me set up the private Piano Room the night before the event, which allowed me to enjoy the celebration without the stress of decorating on the actual day.

As for the food and service, everything was excellent—just as we’ve come to expect from Michael's Back Door. Our servers, Joseph and Anderson, were so friendly, accommodating, and provided fabulous service throughout the event. They really made our experience feel even more special!

Our family and friends had an unforgettable time, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special occasion.

If you're looking to host a private event or just enjoy a great meal, I highly recommend booking Michael's Back Door. You won’t regret it!

This is a nice restaurant to go for event spaces, they are really good at providing service for these types of things. We came here for our daughter's baptism for dinner. The staff did an excellent job in working with us right up to the event plus working very hard to ensure everyone was well taken care of. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to have events here. Also side note my wife and I have been here for dinner and they do that pretty well too :)

My friend just posted about this here, but was not able to add the pictures of the bandaid in the lobster pasta. We’ve ordered this pasta before and it has been our favourite. I’m not going to repeat what my friend wrote but given that I found and almost ate this bandaid and then read another review about someone who ate rotten lamb, I personally wouldn’t go near this place. The owner (I’m assuming) also truly did not seem bothered by it when he delivered the replacement, which we could barely eat after the thought of finding a used bandaid in the first order.

My friend and I have ordered take out many times from Michaels back door as we love the lobster pasta.

Today we ordered 2 lobster pastas, about $110 dollars after tip. My friend found a used bandaid in her pasta.

We called and notified the restaurant and they refunded our order right away and said they would bring us new food. While waiting I was wondering if the sauce is made in batches and frozen or made fresh. I was concerned that it was possible the sauce in the new meal might be from the same batch which the bandaid simmered in.

I was really disgusted thinking about that so we called back to ask if they make the sauce fresh every time which they said they do. They then went further to say they checked and nobody has a cut on their finger in the kitchen and it may be a lobster shell. We said no it’s absolutely a bandaid and we left it in the meal to give it back to them.

This made me think further- If nobody has a cut, and the sauce isn’t frozen and used at a later date then where did the bandaid come from?? It doesn’t add up to me.

Lastly- while I am appreciative they replaced our meals and refunded my order I feel they should have at minimum given a complimentary dessert or something on top of the full refund. This isn’t a strand of hair, this is a bandaid we are talking about.

I appreciate them doing the bare minimum to fix this issue but we will longer will be customers here. For some reason Google isn’t giving me the option to add a photo in this review or I would have.

My youngest daughter and I recently decided upon Michael’s Back Door to host my other daughter’s bridal shower because of very positive experiences we had had there in the past. Again, this restaurant did not disappoint and exceeded our expectations. The food, with the many selections available to our guests from the events menu, and service were outstanding. Everything was perfect and all our guests were remarking about how good the food was. I would recommend this restaurant highly. Thank you to Mr. Morra, Mr. Coffa and the incredible staff that were so attentive, friendly and professional.
