Initially, upon hearing about Square One, I had assumed it to be a modest, unassuming mall. However, to my surprise, Food District Mississauga shattered my preconceptions. The sheer scale and variety of dining options within Square One left me in awe. It was a revelation; how had I, inadvertently, overlooked this culinary gem? I was about to correct that mistake with my second stay.Nowadays, at places like Square One, the dynamics have shifted dramatically. Food has taken center stage, becoming a focal point of the mall experience, while shopping plays a supporting role. Despite the encroachment of online giants like Amazon, who have claimed a significant share of retail profits, the charm of dining out remains unconquered. Jeff Bezos may have revolutionized online shopping, but the allure of a sit-down restaurant experience eludes him. This shift in focus has become a survival strategy for malls, with many emulating malls such as the Square One model to stay relevant and attract patrons. It’s a testament to the enduring appeal of in-person experiences and the adaptability of traditional retail spaces in the face of digital disruption.I couldn’t help but marvel at the gastronomic delights housed within the Food District. It’s a wonder I hadn’t stumbled upon this culinary haven sooner. The Food District is like a busy hub of delicious food, capturing the lively atmosphere of a bustling market. It brings together different types of food places, like cozy bakeries, fresh seafood spots, energetic juice bars, and lots of diverse restaurants. With more than 25 talented cooks, shop owners, and chefs, there are a ton of tasty choices to try. If you are to believe the signage, there are over 100 restaurants in the area. Believe me, I did not have the time to count. I will take their word for it. Below are a few restaurants that caught my eye.Jollibee is a renowned Filipino fried chicken franchise famous for its overflowing buckets of Jolly Crispy Chicken and Jolly Spaghetti.Fuwa Fuwa offers made-to-order Japanese soufflé pancakes known for their delightful fluffiness.La Carnita features classics like In Cod We Trust, a crunchy cod taco, and a grilled steak taco with chipotle mayo, tomatillo salsa, crispy shallots, and vibrant cocktails and beer.Patties Express provides fluffy coco bread stuffed with delicious fillings, creating a satisfying carb-on-carb delight.Roywoods offers a jerk chicken sandwich, a hearty combination of spice-marinated chicken, coleslaw, onions, spicy mayo, and tomato, perfectly paired with a refreshing Caribbean soda.Moxie’s Grill & Bar, savor the Chipotle Mango Chicken or Lemon Basil Salmon for your main course, followed by the delightful White Chocolate Brownie for dessert.Sansotei Ramen serves authentic flavors from diverse Japanese regions, including the hearty Tonkotsu Black Ramen and the refreshing Yuzu White Ramen.Jimmy the Greek is a fast-service restaurant specializing in gyro wraps, souvlaki, and Greek salad, providing a Mediterranean culinary experience.Crepe Delicious offers fresh, premium sweet and savory crepes and handcrafted gelato.Whether you’re craving a leisurely dining experience or need to grab a quick bite while on the move, The Food District has everything you need. It’s a culinary paradise offering diverse delectable treats, ranging from heavenly pastries to succulent seafood and revitalizing juices. Whatever your taste buds desire, you’re sure to find it here. Each week, it provides an assortment of rotating food pop-ups, ensuring there’s always something new and exciting to discover.-mtlrestorap.com

This area is one of the best sections in square one as its not just the lights and the vibe but the service and food quality is amazing too. The cost is way more than the typical eating area so be careful there too.

Overall I am happy with the different stores except the business practice by Farzi Cafe. They are quite dishonest about charging the gratitude. I don’t understand why you need to pay that for table of two. Also not telling you. And ask you to put a review.

My son and I decided to visit square one and opted to go to the food district again instead of the food court. The food court tends to be quite loud and busy. The food district area is busy but not crazy nor loud. They also have a good selection of snack type food. I really like that because I am able to sample the different food the place offers. We tried 2 places today for snacks. My my chicken was good ( 8/10)We tried the boneless chicken combo for $20. It was good size for a snack for 2 people. The service was fast and the place was set up more of a take out with an option to eat in. There are a few tables available. Place was clean too. Hattendo 7/10There is a small bar like table that you can stand and quickly eat your food but no stools or chair to sit in. But there are tables within the food district where you can sit down and eat. We tried the cream bun with whipped cream. 6/10It was good but nothing special about it. Ebi fry sando 9/10. I had low expectations on this being that it's just a sandwich but I was wrong. It was a really good sandwich. The bread was super soft and the sauce that came with the fried tempura shrimp just compliment it nicely.

The Food District has some interesting popups. The latest is POPpadum at the District Kitchen. They serve original Indian and fusion street food and snacks. It wasn’t quite lunch so I wasn’t that hungry so I ordered one Vada Pav OG ($5.55 for one, $10.55 for 2), a soft ball of spiced potato sandwiched between a soft bun and 2 different chutneys. They place one hot pepper on top. It was soft and very tasty and the pepper was hot! It was probably at my top level for heat (spice). The server was very friendly. They are only there for a short time (until September 24) so try it if you can.

Lots of different food, drinks, bakeries and desserts at The Food District! My Uber driver told me that this is a pretty new addition and that the food was good so definitely check it out if you're in the area. The interior is a modern and Instagram-able food hall with a good amount of seating. From first glance, I was overwhelmed by the amount of good options and variety. I would recommend walking around and looking at every food establishment before buying. I recommend sampling from a few places to try as much as you can (if you're just visiting). I enjoyed Kibo Sushi House, Uncle Tetsu's Shop (the cheese tart was so good), and Hale Coffee. Lots of other options (Italian pasta, tacos, soups, chocolate shop, Indian, Mediterranean, etc.) that looked like it was worth a chance. I'd recommend grabbing food here for convenience and taste.
