I’ve been to this restaurant before and actually enjoyed it, and I usually don’t write negative reviews over one bad experience. But this visit was so disappointing that I felt it needed to be said.
I came with my family, a group of 7, which really isn’t that big specially since there was only one other customer in the restaurant. Right away, the owner came over and told us we should’ve called in advance and that the food would take a long time. Fair enough, we didn’t mind and placed our order.
After waiting about 45–50 minutes, the food finally arrived — except for the dumplings, which were supposed to be our appetizer. After finishing the entire meal, we asked again about them and were told it would be another 20 minutes. When I asked if we could just cancel, I was told they were “already in the oven.” So, once again, we waited patiently.
Up until this point, I hadn’t said a single rude word, I was simply inquiring. But when I went up to pay, I reached for a chocolate from the bowl at the counter, and the owner told me they’re not free. Let’s be honest, no restaurant puts a bowl of chocolates at the front if they’re not complimentary. I’ve been here before, and that was never the case.
To top it all off, the owner had the nerve to tell me I needed to “be respectful” about the food taking long after I had already waited nearly an hour without complaint.
Here’s my sincere advice: if you don’t have the staff to handle a table of seven, maybe don’t open on a long weekend. Keep your 5-cent chocolates and your restaurant because I definitely won’t be coming back

Very friendly staff and tasty food!
If you're craving bold flavors, generous portions, and a taste of Xinjiang, Urumchi Uyghur Cuisine delivers an unforgettable experience. The moment we walked in, the warm lighting and subtle ethnic decor set the tone for a cozy, authentic meal.
We started with the Lamb Skewers — juicy, smoky, and perfectly seasoned with cumin. The Big Plate Chicken was the star of the night: tender chicken chunks simmered in a spicy broth with hand-pulled noodles that soaked up every drop of flavor. The Pilov with Lamb Shank was equally impressive — the lamb melted in our mouths, and the rice was fragrant and well-seasoned.
For dessert, the Uyghur yogurt with honey and dried fruits was a refreshing surprise — creamy, slightly tart, and beautifully balanced. Service was friendly and efficient, and the staff were happy to explain the dishes to first-time visitors.
Prices were reasonable given the portion sizes.

The food was delicious! We ordered the bean jelly salad, which turned out to be quite spicy even though we had asked for mild. However, when we went to pay, they kindly didn’t charge us for it, a really nice gesture on their part.

It was our 1st time dining here, we tried the medium plate chicken, Pilaf, stir fry noodles with beef & bbq lamb skewers and it was all so good. Food for the soul! Portions are great for the price, service was excellent & quick.

I went there for the second time yesterday with my husband and kids. The waitress there was really friendly as always. She helped us a lot with everything and especially with the kids when we were having trouble taking care of them. The food was decent. The service was really the best though. Loved the whole experience.

Amazing food. We ordered lagman, chichwara (soup) and kabab. Soup was absolutely amazing, it was so hearty and full of soul. It is the kind of soup that heals you. Lagman (noodles) was delicious. Service was great, owner is super kind.
