I have been going to the Kitcheness since it's opening. Sarah is an amazing person and great to chat with. Her desserts and soups are beyond amazing. My favourite soups are the Thai soup and the French onion. My favourite sandwiches are the Chicken Jalapenos, Chicken Pesto and the rarely appearing Chicken Brie and cranberry!

11/10 recommend for a quick lunch if you're in the area. #SupportLocalBusinesses

Not helpful or accommodating- the owner herself. Refused to even make a simple lettuce salad. I even offered to bring any ingredients if necessary. Still NO !!! PATHETIC

Owner Sarah was busy preparing cranberry sauce when we randomly found this jewel. We were travelling north towards Algonquin Park and googled lunch options at North Gower. We were stunned to find vegan and gluten free options in such a tiny town, and I looked twice to make sure I wasn't being redirected to Ottawa!

My lunch companion had a gf sandwich made to order and we both loved the spicy Thai chicken soup on a cool fall day. I topped off my meal with a pumpkin-gingerbread square. It was so delicious that ordinary pumpkin pie is now lost on me!

There were hearty meals to go, salads, a range of desserts, both gluten free and traditional flour based. All served by Sarah's kind and accommodating assistant.

Google maps' GPS will take you there, but the shop is small and we did circle the block looking for it. Take a close look at the store front in my photo to know what you are 5 for. The shop is set up for take out but has comfy cafe seating.

Savour local in rural Eastern Ontario!

Vegetarian options: Willing to make for you.

Dietary restrictions: Went above and beyond to accommodate food allergies.

The Kitcheness has become a staple here in North Gower. I would describe this eatery as country. From the classic country salads (broccoli, potato, macaroni) to the classic desserts it brings me back to my childhood and I love it.

I see some people complaining about the price in other reviews, but the food here is all homemade, even some sauces are homemade. The roast beef is made by the owner each week I believe too. So, although it does cost about $20 for a sandwich combo you are eating healthy, homemade food which Tim Hortons could never beat.

Ps. Her scones are literally the best in the city.

Cute enough inside. A nice selection of more lunch sandwich options, quite limited with regards to espresso/ cafe drinks. I came specifically for a coffee, and the only redeeming quality about the coffee I had (on two separate occasions) was that it was hot; I drink my coffee black and did not find the coffee flavourful or in anyway delicious. There is a good variety of baked goods and pastries. I would not go out of my way to come here again.
