Halibut House Fish and Chips

What an awesome experience at the new Woodstock location - the greeter and servers were efficient, friendly and made you feel welcome!! The Halibut was delicious, light batter, fries and coleslaw very tasty. Well done team!!👍

Jeny was our waitress, her smiley face, & polite & speedy service. Jeny was very attentive. We ordered the Sunday Halibut special, 1 massive piece of Halibut, fries, & coleslaw. Mmmmm, it was amazing. The restaurant is decorated very nicely. The place looks great. It is a great place to eat with good prices.

First of all the prices are outrageous. The woman who was at counter was shy of pleasant and terrible customer service. Rude at best. The fish quality should be top notch for the price and it’s not. Greasy and batter was far from acceptable. Terrible service and sadly I’ll not be back especially to this location

two 13$ meals of 1extra piece of fish turned into A 72 dollar meal.Very unimpressed , tried to call in unable to get a hold of manager till apparently , tomorrow morning will not be back in .. been going there for like ten years.. could not believe this happened

We were in Orangeville and decided to try Halibut House for lunch. Ordered the lunch portion of halibut fish and chips — the fries were good, but the fish was just okay. It looked a bit too uniform to seem handmade, and the batter was average with the fish a little wet inside. For the price, I expected better quality. Overall, pretty average compared to other fish and chip places. Needs improvement — probably wouldn’t go back.

Got the Haddock Daily Special, it was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection with a boat load of fries! The staff was very polite too! ☺️

Very surprised that my halibut looked like pre-frozen Captain Highliner. I’m not sure the fries are even fresh cut anymore. $25 is a lot for something that appears to be pre-battered pre-frozen.

I ate here 2 days in a row while on lunch break from work. It was empty inside so service was fast both days. It was clean the food portion sizes were decent and the food was delicious. The food definitely has changed for the better since its original opening years ago. I’ll definitely come back.

Ordered for pickup. 2 halibut dinners. One with fries the other with onion rings. Fries a bit undercooked. Overall food was good.

So called manager rude and disrespectful to customers on phone and this was Sunday Aug 31 2025 hangs up on a customer then when call back forgets to hang up and listen to them yelling and talking about me on the phone without realizing they are still on. Also said she would cook my meal herself but I would have to pay double for it

Sad change from the last time I ate here. The fish soup was 1/2 a bowl of cold soup clearly from the bottom of the bowl and should have been called potato soup not fish soup. Glass of icewater ended up being a luke warm glass of tap water. The request for crispy well done fish and chips were soggy and came 2-3 minutes after the soup arrived. No lemon with the fish but the tartar sauce was good. No wonder there was no one else eating in the place. Sad fall from grace. The service was also a big let down. And this place was so good last year. Oh well, won't be stopping there again.
