Mixed experience overall. The food was very tasty, but service was extremely slow. Was there on a Thursday evening, not super busy, and our food took about 30 minutes before it was ready. Some of our items had clearly sat for a while, and were either soggy or not warm enough anymore. With faster service this would have been a 5/5 but it seems like they might have some issues to work out

I checked out Bao Mama inside the downtown Oshawa food hall and was pleasantly surprised. The food hall itself is very clean and has a nice vibe. You can even watch the staff making the baos fresh, which is a cool touch.
I tried a few items:
• Chicken Bao – decent portion size (about the size of the palm of your hand or bigger, great value), though the bao wasn’t as fluffy as traditional ones. The fried chicken was good, but since it was dark meat, it wasn’t really my thing.
• Fries – excellent! Crispy coating, perfectly cooked. I had them with hot sauce and they were addictive.
• Birria Bao – this was the standout. Hearty portion, served with consomé on the side. The consomé was thick, flavorful, and delicious. The bao itself was seared on both sides, cheesy and gooey—almost like a bao-grilled-cheese fusion. Super creative and well executed. My only complaint was a huge chunk of fat in one bite of the meat, which threw me off, but otherwise the flavors were great.
Service was quick and friendly, and overall I think Bao Mama is worth checking out if you’re in the area. The creativity in their menu and the portion sizes make it a solid spot to try.

The enjoyment of appealing food frequently cultivates a sense of satisfaction. Although living abroad can often evoke feelings of homesickness, the availability of familiar comfort foods can effectively promote a sense of calm and well-being. This food chain is highly recommended for maintaining a sense of Filipino identity.

Manager very enthusiastic about his business, good to see. I was only having a snack so the rating is for shomai and spring rolls ... Shomai 8.2/10 spring rolls 5/10 spring rolls. The Baos looked amazing but again I had just worked out. Will go back to try them.

The baos were not as warm or hot as I expected to be when they were ready for us. Not bad but flavors are lacking. Crispy chicken was good out of the 5 that we got.

Great restaurant, in a beautiful location making Bao from scratch including the buns. Loved the pork and beef baos. Friendly staff and owner came by to say hello. All washed down with an awesome pandan bubble drink!

LISTEN. JUST GO. JUST GO. It’s the best thing ever. When they returned to square one I was hugging the sign. I recommend Triple B.
However, you MUST try their birria bao, that one is my absolute favourite. It is so so delicious.
Please. Give BAO MAMA some love. They deserve it for having the best baos in town.

First time eating here and it did not disappoint. Food was awesome. We had the try pack best seller and they were great. BBQ Pork and triple B were the best, the chicken was good as well.
